I've only had a few 100 pt. Sauternes in my life, but this is clearly one of them. Beautiful cognac amber color with a 1/8" sunny lemon yellow rim (characteristic of these old wines). Brilliant nose of toasted nuts and vanilla caramels, with supporting light apricot, peach, other light white fruits. No hints of oxidation or even old age. Perfectly integrated flavors and a balance that rivals Yquem. Floats over the tongue with similar flavors and a 30 second finish. Absolutely stood up to anything we tried with it...cheese, foie, fish (yes grilled sole) and even the milk chocolate dessert. I'm finding that wines with this much extract and balance just cover the palate and obliterate anything that might conflict. Brilliant.
Purists might say it should have a longer finish, or more acidity. I say pshaw. If one can drink this wine effortlessly over an hour and a half at 90 years old with all the foods we enjoyed, there is no way it is less that perfect. On par with the '28 Coutet.
