| Bottles stored at an average of 68 degrees...
That, coupled with the fact you will not break up the collection and are asking $60,000, will make this a tough sell.

| Of the 505 bottles, 296 are Silver Oak, Opus One, or Marilyn Merlot. 293 bottles are rated 89 or lower (or have no score). 104 bottles are CA Cabs from 1998 or 2000. And for this, the buyer gets to pay $118 per bottle? You'd be better off shopping this collection as a whole to one of the many companies that advertises in the back of the Wine Spectator Magazine. You won't get the price you are looking for. But you won't be wasting your time waiting for a stiff to pay $120 per bottle for Silver Oak. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

And for poorly stored wine to boot! | | | Pinot Noir: It helps build strong bones.

| Wow....if the "average" temp is 68, can you imagine what the highs must have been? A temp that is fluctuating a lot is very bad for wine.....particularly if it's fluctuating over 68 on a regular basis. Crazy!

| Its fair to ask whatever price you'd like. I can say that a lot more people are selling wine these days, and most all for "personal reasons". It sounds like some tough times have come your way; I wish you the best. That said, I would be very surprised to see the entire collection go in a single sale, particularly at that high of a price. The only people that would buy an entire collection would be a wine broker or retailer; they would not be able to mark up anything beyond the price paid.
Good luck. | | | |

| Price on the collection is now $47,500. I feel bad for the seller.. I suspect the final price will be closer to $30K. | | | |

With an average temp of 68, $30K would be an outstanding value....for the seller....and nobody else. You might as well be buying wine from a Katrina cellar.

| Chris - I forgot about the temperature thing. For $95/bottle I would want properly stored wines. Oh, i would want good wines as well, not silver oak etc also :-) | | | |

| Randy, it's not about how good the wine is. It's about what others perceive that wines value to be. I still remember walking into Bouchon about 5-6 years ago and running into Eddie George, the NFL RB. He had a bottle of Silver Oak he was holding proudly for all to see. My friend and I laughed when we saw it.....did he really think he was impressing anybody? Maybe he saves the good bottles for his wife.....he was with a different woman that night......so I guess when you are paying by the hour....Silver Oak will do! | | | |
