Randy: With respect to the lack of passion, perhaps this will explain it. Direct from their website's "History" tab:

"Just like many in the wine industry, I started my journey here knowing virtually nothing about winemaking. I came to Napa Valley in 1984 to help my mother settle her affairs after my father passed away, but within a month of my arrival my mother also died. Here I was, what was I to do? I had just inherited a very lovely property in Calistoga and since I didn’t have many future job prospects, I decided to plant a vineyard and start a winery—it seemed everyone else in the valley had one."

Uhh. "Everybody else is doing it, so I should too" is not exactly the most passionate way to begin a new life.
Beta testing a new signature.

Damn, time flies. A week in the dirty South can sure throw off your priorities... Trip Update!!!

Looks like the camping part of the trip is going to implode. Flip side is that I'll probably be able to offline yet again with David and Randy, which means I can roll the dice with liver and kidney failure one more time. David, we need to get back on the dinner rhythm, as three bottles at lunch last time killed the entire day :-D I'll send a mail to nail down details.

Friday is looking RIDICULOUSLY good, and I'll be indebted to our resident Sommelier to the Superstars for quite a while. Meeting Thomas Brown at Outpost in the morning and tasting through some wine, then it's off to lunch, followed by a jaunt over to Bond to play around in the vineyards. Meeting up with Bob again, as well, which I'm looking forward to! I still need to fill out the details, but I've been doing cartwheels around the office. Funniest conversation with a colleague so far:

Me - DUDE! I'M GOING TO BE WALKING AROUND THE VINEYARDS AT BOND. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT SH*T?
Jim - Is that next to Mondavi?
Me - What? I don't know. Do I look like Rand McNally? It's Bond!
Jim - Yeah, I think we stopped there.
Me - Yeah, I think you didn't.
Jim - Yeah we did. The big Iranian temple place.
Me - Uh NO. That's Darioush.
Jim - Should I be impressed.
Me - Yes.
Jim - Ok. Stop by the place with the tram ride. It's cool.
Me - Sure. I'll bring you some Mickey Mouse ears back, too.
Jim - You're an ass.
Me - True, but I'm paying for coffee.
Jim - Enough said. Iced venti soy latte with a shot of vanilla.
Me - How many boxes did that poor woman have to check on your "specialty coffee drink?"
Jim - 4.
Me - Mickey Mouse ears it is, my friend. Now how about our earnings report.......

Bond is absolutely gorgeous. We had a private tour and tasting there 3 years ago because my brother knew the son of one of their graoe suppliers (the grapes that go into Melbury).

Hey All,

This is my first post here, though I have been lurking for quite sometime now!

Drew- who toured you around BOND? It really is a remarkable property isn't it! I am working an event for Audi at the end of the month up at the property. Should be fun; wine and V10 R8's!!

Cheers,
Chris

Bond backed out at the last minute. Went over to Hourglass, instead, and had a FANTASTIC time!!!
