| Zagat says the old Tomatino (or whatever it was) place behind Tre Vigne has changed to "Pizza Tre Vigne". Any scoop here? | | | |

| I haven't tried it yet but given the new name I suspect it will be quite popular with the tourists. | | | |

| we have not been there yet (with Stacey's low carb diet...), but those who have say that they are focusing on the basics. They upgraded their dough recipe (meaning a different recipe that people like better). And the pizza reports have been good. We will get there one day. | | | |

| There was an interim name, Pizzeria Vite, between Tomatina and Pizzeria Tre Vigne. I believe the Tre Vigne change is a change in name only -- we were there several times during its "Vite" stage.
While it won't win any awards, it's a pretty good option if this is what you're looking for: a) it's affordable b) it's quick c) the pasta is served "al dente" and the sauces are good d) the pizza scores about a 9 on my 11 year old's scale. As a reference, the best pizza he tried in Italy and his favorite here in the US(at Olivetto's) scores a 10.5 e) AND THIS IS A BIGGIE... you can almost always get a table there with no advance reservation | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards

| Sad news, Roux has closed. The soft economy coupled with only 9 tables and a dining style that did not lend itself to multiple turns finally took its toll. This is a major bummer. | | | |

| Major bummer is an understatement. Man, I really liked that place. I'll miss it. | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| Roux closed? I know they're closed for 2 weeks (starting this week) to do a little remodeling / time off for the owners. | | | |

| Say it isn't so Bob. Say DJ is right.
Maybe he is heading over to TFL.
I know you know him Bob. And I know that waiter we had; his wife works for Nils. My feelers are out.

| It is sad but true. The restaurant biz is tought right now, unless you can really pack them in, keep the costs under control (workman's comp has gone crazy lately), and/or have a deep pockets backer. | | | |

| Do we have any idea what Vincent might do next, if anything to do with a restaurant? | | | |

| Roux is seriously closed for good? Last I talked with the Chef (name escapes me), he was talking to us about how the dining area is going to be doubled after the renovations. We made reservations there for the Monday that they're next open for their $35 3 course pre fixe monday dinners. | | | |

| Nattress needs a new venue. The economics of doing that level of dining at Roux's space are very poor. | | | |

| Very bad news, I greatly enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
I almost feel bad........Vincent was a super nice guy who seemed to pour his heart into what he did.

| good questions. I think it will be few months until Vincent can get his head around this and decide what to do next.
I know of 2 new restaurants slated to open in St Helena over the next 6 months or so, both with good chefs. There is also a rumor that a deal has been made for a new restaurant at Catahoula. There are also a few new places going to open in Napa, but I think they are more middle range than high end.

| If I recall, Vincent's wife's pregnancy this fall was not trouble free. Hopefully, they will land on their feet, in the right venue, with the right backing, never lose the personal touch and prosper! | | | |
