With the previous board software, when I clicked on a thread it would take me to the first unread post.  Now when I click on the thread, it doesn't do that.  It only takes me to the first post in the thread.  When I click on the person that made the last post, it goes to their profile.

Any way to get the old functionality back?

This still happens if I read a thread, come back later, and read it again.

There may be a bug with it.. but it seems to mostly work.

yea, this is a bit hokey.... Perhaps a data issue on the back end.. I'll try to track it down.

Seems to depend on if you've posted in a thread or not.... or if it's a new thread since the migration or not.... something like that... I'm still trying to track it down. Doesn't work well on old threads though, that's for sure.

Still a major problem. Got logged out twice today, and each time when I returned I had oodles of "unread" posts, and I always get taken to Page 1 of the thread.

Yes, and the unread post "star" shows on forums that don't have any new posts.

I give up. It is not working for me. I've checked my little box in my preference thingie. What next?

Actually this works for me some of the time but it doesn't work most of the time.

I click on a thread that I have read before and showing that there are new posts and it goes to the first post (and if it has 18 pages (or whatever) it goes to the first post on the first page.

I really drives me nutso. I really don't like it when this happens.

In the old system when this feature was not working at least it told you how many new posts there were so you had a chance of figuring it out going back from the last post in the thread. That isn't there anymore either.

I sure hope this isn't a problem with Macs.

BTW, what happened with post counts?  My count is roughly 20% less than pre-upgrade.

No way Big Brother could have deleted THAT much of my history to prove we have always been at war with East Asia.  I don't think I directed THAT many posts to Jones over the years, did I?Â

Funny isn't the word! I just came back to read the new post above and it took me directly to it (like I want it to). The past three of four times before this though it didn't work. Must be the time of the month.

BTW, not that it matters at all but I think my post count is down too. I never look at it but for some reason I did look about a month ago. IIRC it was just over 17,000.

Like I said though the post count is no big deal. Jumping to the last read post not working is a big deal; a really really really big deal!

It does seem to be inconsistant... and yes, having to navigate through multiple pages to find the last post can be a real PITA!

Yea, when you first come back, there is no information about your unread posts. It thinks you haven't read anything yet. So as you click in and out of posts, it starts saving this information, about what you've read and not read... and the "jump to first unread" works better and better. It's working for me every time now.

Regarding post counts, everyone does seem to have less. This is a very accurate number however on this new system. The old system's count was actually the one out of whack when I tested with some SELECT Count(*) statements.

Oh... and FYI - the upgrade that's coming in a few weeks will correct the issue with the Folders incorrectly notifying of new posts.... currently it's cookie based (only the folders, not the unread message counts) but is being moved to the database. I'm also anticipating a search upgrade, display name fix, and some other features.

Another thing I noticed is when someone posts a thread from the old forum it will sometimes take me to the beginning of the thread. After that it accurately skips to the "first unread" post.
