When you get to the thread where you read the individual posts the new posts since last visit are not highlited. Only way to tell if you have read them is look at the posting time or look at the previous page to see how many new posts are indicated.

The "jump" button seems to be set to a default of " *Vino Cellar Forums Information* "

And I use the "Main Index" button a lot. It sure is small now but I'm sure I will get used to it.

Same problem here. The little box with the word 'new' is no longer displayed.
This makes it tough to remember where you left off, particularly on my home computer,
which does NOT put the first unread post at the top of the screen.

Rev...

This is a question, not a problem.
What is the criterion for a thread to be 'hot', where the little flame thingie burns on the left column?

Just curious.

Never mind. I just answered my own question. Looks like 50 posts is the magic number.

Yeah, the Main Index wording font size is smaller now. I do use that an awful lot too. But so far no 'problems'

Actually, not a problem, but a comment. I do not like that the thread list seems to have gotten fatter per line/row.You can't view as many thread headers at once within each form section anymore since they seem to take up two rows now. Not a terrible thing, I guess, but now I have to scroll more often. Ah well. No biggie.

I also saw the '1 viewing' indicator -- I wonder if that means there is one person viewing stuff in a given thread at that moment....?

TJ, I had the same reaction to the new menu.
The wider entries are more of a nuisance than before.
I don't see how it's an improvement (c'mon. I have to whine about SOMETHING!)

rev, I'm still occasionally getting the "CGI Error". Refreshing the page lets it continue.

The new search parameters are cool, but I am not sure it is working entirely properly. I was searching to see if I'd posted about this 1996 Isole somethingorother vin santo. I didn't see it, so I abbreviated the search parameter to just the word santo and it gave me a list of hits, most which looked ok, but when I clicked one, it took me to a what have I been drinking lately thread to a specific page of that thread and nowhere on that page did the word 'santo' appear...

TJ...

I could be wrong about this, but with the old version, search results took you
right to the post where the result could be found.

The current version seems to put you at the first post on the page of posts where
the result could be found. You still have to search the whole page to find the
object of your search. I don't think it was like that before.

Here's another one that I think used to work correctly.

The number of posters who are online do not add up to the number at the top of the page
on the 'Who's Online' screen.

Right now, it says 15 users online, but I only count 12.
Is it counting anonymous users now?

Again, I think the old version gave accurate numbers, but I'm not 100% sure.

Just two things, one of them a biggie IMHO:

1). The "new" icon next to the title on any new posts when you enter a subject is now gone. IMHO this is a huge step back. Now I can't just pick out which post is new with a quick look. This was one of the stellar features which none of the other boards have and helped to make Vinocellar easier to use than other boards using infopop.

2). When I use the back button the indexes are not updated.

I'm with TJ on the new wider rows. It doubled the amount of scrolling and mousing you have to do to view the topics. It looks to me that the width of the final column of "Last Post" became smaller thus the row size increased to accomodate the amount of text in that column.

Sorry to whine. The other updates are cool. Thanks.

In regards to the "new" icon...... yea.. the icon isn't there... but when you click on the thread it still puts the first post you haven't read right on top.

I hate to be the only one to really complain here, but...I do not like the new format. There are a few things I miss: 1) The JUMP TO feature; 2) The MARK ALL AS READ feature; 3) More threads per page. Rev, I think you are doing a GREAT job maintaining and running the site, so please just take this as constructive criticism. I just think the "old" forum was better. FWIW

Rev is right, it still takes you to the right post.

'Jump To' what the heck was that feature?

As for the search, I did a search onthis page within IE and it could not find anywhere on the thread the word 'Santo' on the page it dumped me to (page 6 by the way, why not the most recent page or even the first page of the thread??). Odd. I'll have to play with it some more.

I noticed the cool thing in the user list where it shows everyone's avatar next to their name. It makes for extra scrolling, but there it is worth the scroll. It is very kewl. It reminds you of who has not posted there recently. Some kewl avatars for people who once posted before....
