About half the time these days, the site hangs.  It's not happening with any of the other web sites I regularly visit.  It'll happen sometimes at logon, sometimes when going from one forum to another.  There is definitely not a pattern.  Sometimes, I'll be able to shut the browser window and come back without problems.  Sometimes I'll have to do it two or three times before I come back.

I've deleted the cookies and the temporary web files from my computer.  Anything else I might try?

Yep, same problem - I think often it is associated with loading some external ad...

What browser/OS are you using?

Same problem here. At least several times a day, it hangs up when I select a topic. I have to kill the browser and start over.

I've only had it happen once and it was hung on "pagead syndicat" or something like that so it is one of the ad servers.  It also could be your ad blocking software trying to block the ad.

The ad serving companies change their feeds periodically to beat the ad blockers.

Ok... haven't noticed yet but will keep an eye out. No changes were made to the ads recently... and the upgrade didn't change the ad code either. I do however have something I can try, see if it will help.

This happens often for me.  It is so slow that it reminds me of the days of dial-up.Â

I haven't had any problems with the site recently.

Is there anyone seeing these hangs that is using Firefox?  I have not seen any hangs using this browser.

Has anyone seen any hangs using a MAC OS?  I have had no issues with either Firefox or Safari on the MAC.

Of course, I can't use the IE only spell checker that is used in this forum, but I am not getting any hangs.

I've only "hanged" maybe once or twice in the past few weeks. Maybe not even that. Yes, I'm using Firefox on XP....and yes...I have ALL advertising from pop uips to banners blocked. I never see one, I rarely have a problem.

I'm having major problems today. I think it's the Google Ads. I could only load the site, by clicking on this thread from my Yahoo account. I could not load by typing in the URL or searching for VC through Google.

I disabled the picture ads (which seem to be the problem) but it might not take affect for a little bit.

I've been having the same problem (XP, IE7, Google search bar), averaging once every three times I access a page. Don't know if Google is directly to blame, but the text at the bottom left of the screen always has it loading a Google ad. I can F5 (refresh) and it usually reloads ok, but in all honesty, it's really getting irritating.

Yep - same problem for me every day I check in. It varies from locking for just a few seconds to locking completely. When I notice this, the status bar at the bottom (IE) says something along the lines of:
