| Stemor had contacted Terry Theise and encouraged me to do the same. He has lurked here before apparently, and would like to participate occassionally. He is open to something like he did in eBob where they advertise that a guest will come on, then all of the subjects for that guest start with the name of the guest in capital letters.
It would be nice to do this as well, but it seems like we should do something better.
Also, Terry brought up a comment that may relate to others. It is not obvious how to get onto this site (i.e. the login is not that obvious to some who try to log into the main site, not the forums login).
Seems like we should think of a better way to handle these and maybe we can get more important guests to participate.
Any ideas?

| | Guest speakers are a great thing and should be encouraged whenever possible imo. I would certainly love to "hear" what he has to says. | | | |

| | This sounds fantastic, and I agree with Jones completely. Seems to me the best way to handle it would be to create a temprorary special forum dedicated to the guest. | | | 2008: the end of an error | |

| Eric,
That is exactly what I just "said" to GATC in a PM. A separate folder for "Special Guest Appearances" would allow the topics to stay together and NOT lost in all the other traffic (as usually happens on eBob). It would also allow people who chose not to learn anything that day to avoid accidentally finding knowledge .

| | I agree with Eric on the special forum creation for the guest. That way they only have to look in one place and things can be archived fairly easily. I also agree with what Terry (through GATC) says about getting to the forums. From the front page it is fairly nonintuitive. This is one of the few things that could be improved. Otherwise I think this board has it all over the others in terms of ease of use and content. | | | |

| Agree with a special forum for "special guest" members. Mssr. Theise's posts on ebob were informative and excellent reading.
My big complaint about ebob (and the WS board) is that the posts are in a jumbled mix. There is also a bit of hot air but that's probably to be expected.

| | This reminds me, I still don't know how to use the "Account Login", I just use the "Forum login" at the bottom. Does anyone use the "Account Login" at the top, which would be the intuitive way to get in? | | | |

| i just go directly to the forums log in. i guess when one uses a site so often, one over looks the problems for newbies.
i think the separate forum for guest wine professionals is a great idea.

| | With Internet Explorer... go to VC's "Main Index" page and find the little "marked page" icon with the "e" on it at the top left of the window that says "listing catagories". Drag this icon onto your desktop making an alias of the icon. Then next time you want to go in simply click on that icon and voila, it's there! | | | |

| Is this going to happen?
I know Terry had said that he was available sometime in late July, but not sure if it was next week or the week after ... GATC, any further communication with him on this?

| Hey Everyone,
Thanks GATC for bringing this thread to my attention. I see there is a lot of support for something like this. It's great to see ideas like this, especially ones that are easily implemented.
I'd like to clarify a little bit with what's really wanted.
Is everyone thinking this should be a new forum underneath the "Wine Discussions" Category? Or were you all hoping a new "Special Guests" Category would be created and have the Forums just be called the name of whoever the special guest is?
Everyone understand the difference? For instance (most likely to OVER CLARIFY this):
Categories > Forums > Threads
Idea #1:
Wine Discussions > Special Guests > Terry Theise talks about whatever..... Wine Discussions > Special Guests > Bob Foley Talks about Pride
Idea #2
Special Guests > Terry Theise > Topic of the moment #1 Special Guests > Terry Theise > Topic of the moment #2 Special Guests > Bob Foley > Pride
Or were you guys thinking something totally different?
I happen to like... um.... hhmm.. I don't know..... because a question pops up. In order to not clutter the forums with unrelated threads, I'm not sure everyone should be able to CREATE a thread, but everyone should be able to REPLY to a thread.
