| I've recently noticed a significant increase in the number of duplicate Tasting Note posts; at times these are fairly common wines whos prior activity would readily show in a search (although it may take a page or two of scrolling among Insignia's or Montelena's, etc, to find). Some instances have the previously posted wine among those recently replied to, on the "front page" when posting the "newer" version.
Rather than bugging moderators to consolidate (which I haven't done) perhaps an auto-search could be incorporated into the Subject line. When a subject is first typed in for a new post, it would search against other "original" subjects (ignoring replies to increase the likelihood of a match, rather than having the same subject pop up 30 times for a popularly-discussed wine before another vino's subject line appears). This could elicit a "Does one of the following match your new topic" line before creating a duplicate.
And BTW, thanks for keeping this forum for us. It's still highly worthwhile as a resource, just tougher to keep track of everything as it continues to grow! | | | |
