For those who don't know, a Wiki is sort of a cross between a web site and a database.
Any page can easily be edited by anyone with permission, so over time it builds up into a useful resource.

It would be great to have a Wine Wiki that included information on the wine regions, varietals, wineries etc. People could add details of their visits, links to tasting notes, deals, etc.

Isn't there a Wikipedia, which is like an encyclopedia that anyone can add to? Does it have a section on wine, or is that too generic for Vinocellar purposes?

Wikipedia uses the same basic technology, and there would be nothing to stop people from using that.
However I was thinking of something a bit more community-based, with information about visiting, releases, links to tasting notes, etc.

Hmm... think there is enough interest? I could add a vinocellar wiki page.

i was just talking to my web developer about this. A software company already took winewiki.com. I think it would be a great resource for winemakers on clones, barrels, etc.

Cheers,

Ok, I've put a Wiki on the main page. You need to be registered (separate registration from the forums) in order to edit the Wiki.

THIS IS ONLY A TEST WIKI to see if this software will do what everyone wants it to do. If everyone thinks we need a more powerful wiki, that can certainly be looked into. I have many resources for researching them, and have already chosen a more powerful wiki I'd use, but I can't integrate it into Vinocellar as nicely as the current one, though the current one lacks a lot of Wiki features.

So place your comments here about the current one, and things you like about it, and don't like about it. We'll make this a community project of sorts.

This'll be a great resource, I think. Lists of winery links, food links, lists of BYOW friendly restaurants and more.

I'd rather not just become a link repository. I think the information we'd like to see should be put here onto the page, not just linked off of it.

So not much interest? Just not happy with the version of software I'm using? Need something more robust? Or just not interested? I'd like to hear some thoughts before I spend more time on it.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what to add, exactly. I was going to list out the Corkage Fees Restaurant list, but that will take some time digging through posts in the Travel & Dining section.

Tj, that's why a wiki can fit in so well... maybe you add one, someone else adds another, and soon enough you have quite a few in there....
