Thanks for starting this - I know it's a lot of wine for one weekend, but if you look into getting it for March 27 (Saturday), there's a CA barrel tasting people can attend in the afternoon, and really make this a big affair for the DC Cru. That oughta get a few out-of-towners here

A Saturday woud be best for me since there would be the three of us most likely, the 27th would work well for me.

Once we know we can do it, we need to coordinate the wines so everyone can get a reasonable taste.

My first exposure to the DC Crue was, um, ...large (judging by my Mojave desert mouth and Bumper Car Park head the next morning). The wines were fantastic (at least those that I remember) and the company was even better. The food was also very impressive and, being a former bartender and waiter, we would be remiss not to mention the attentive service of our knockout server.

My WOTN was the one in the fourth glass from the right during my third course - you figure it out.

capitolkat - thanks for the stogie! I was lamenting the fact I didn't have one at the end of the night when he produced 8 Bolivars. Now THAT is the definition of "Johnny on the spot!"

Berkeley, naked, stairwell...ah, the good ol' days...

As for me and Swill being two peas in a pod? - I resemble that remark.

I look forward to topping that evening next go round!

Wow-- I'm still recovering, but like I said in another thread great people, great wines, great stories, great food and a good smoke-- Couldn't have been better. dinwiddie thanks for the notes, while I like the Shotfire the Hartford and Turley were just awesome with long finishes that coated the tongue with a smooth goodbye.

I'll have to remember that line and appropriate it for future reference.

Was a hell of a night. Now what are we going to do for February to top it?

Gentleman (and I use that term VERY loosely),
That was epic. Sorry for the delay in my resonse (if anyone is even reading this now), but I am STILL hung over. And it is with pleasure (much in the way a Marine might show off a scar received in the course of kicking a Ranger's ass).
Shot out!

My WOTN was the red one...

Can't wait to do it all again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I'd call the restaurant and tell the manager how much we enjoyed it and that Ruqaiyah had been great, the food wonderful, etc. I ended up getting the manager's phone mail, and guess what, Ruqaiyah is the Restaurant Manager. No wonder we were able to get such wonderful service.

Didn't leave a message, but if I can figure out their e-mail, I'll send one.

I couldn't find an e-mail, so I called back and left a gushing message on her voice mail. Now we have to make an effort to take wives, girlfriends, etc. there on our own. I certainly plan to take Karen and Jake there sometime soon.

I mentioned out great dinner to another couple and they asked if we could get Valentines reservations. fat chance I thought this late. Sure enough, when I called they were booked but Ruqaiyah asked if I had ever been there before and I told her I was one of the wine dudes. She immediately said no problem asked what time I wanted (7:00pm) and booked us for 4 on Valentines.

And you all thought I had something else to report.....

Yep TJ, you missed out. Great meal, lots and lots of great wine and we got the royal treatment. If we didn't have to dash out at 11:45pm to make the last METRO train, we'd have been there even later.
