What a wonderful evening!!! Got to see lots of old faces, lots of REALLY old faces... and even a couple new faces.... it was definitely a successful evening!!

JB put on a terrific event.... Many many notes to follow I'm sure... and I absolutely promise I'll get lots of pictures up on the site later today... Since this turned into a two day event, I'm quite tired.

One quick tidbit.... Congrats to TCK who picked up the grand prize of the raffle.... A MAGNUM of 1991 Dominus!!! WOOHOO!!! Glad his wife doesn't drink much wine... kind of forces him to drink it with Vinocellar'ites. :-)

Oh... and whoever has the picture of the "Are you just happy to see me or is that a magnum in your pants" moment, please forward it on to me. Oh wait... I have it... *sly grin*

Lastly, special thanks to everyone who came tonight. You guys are the reason this forum exists.

A BLAST, indeed. That's what its all about. A good time.

Food was very good to excellent. Nice place, nice ambiance.

Excellent job by j_b on this. He put in a lot of work to put this together & it showed. Thank You, j_b.

The Wines were excellent.

And, most of all & most important is to see everyone again. A very memorable night, that will talk about for years to come.

And, like j_b said @ the After Party. THANK YOU to The Wine Dictator for VC!!!

It was seriously fun. Great food and wines at dinner (thanks to JB whose planning made it all possible). The wines were very good across the board and the "blind" format made it interesting.

We really enjoyed meeting some new folks (although oldtimers on VC it was the first time we had met them.)

And we won a mag of 2000 Bordeaux (thanks again JB!) in the raffle. I seriously think it's the first thing I've ever won in my life.

The afterparty was a blast - we were afraid that the headlines today would read "Winos killed in hotel fire when they ignored the fire alarm and kept on drinking.." I'll let others expand on this and have photos to prove it.

It was definitely a fantastic evening. Mrs WIML and myself thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the dinner and the after party. Many thanks to j_b for organizing the event. He did a fantastic job. Thank you one and all for a spectacular evening.

What a Great evening!

Yes Rev, Unfortunatly that was a mag in his pants

WOTN 92 Dominus - my notes read, "Earth, Forest Floor, Leather, Tobacco, Spicey peppers. This is an aged Bordeaux." Well after Rev gave me a hint that it was California I had a very good idea of what we were drinking. The first wiff was so unique (and difrent from the other wines) that it shocked me into thinking the wine was green. The second wiff and subsequent taste put it into perspective, this was a great wine! The complexity and layers of flavor were amazing. 94 points, I wish I had more because all night I thought that I may have underrated this.

The dinner was fantastic and it was good to see everybody.

Note to self,

Next time you get your picture taken after four glasses of red wine, keep your mouth shut. Jeez, I look like Austin Powers holding that mag

Re-posted in the proper Post Event Fun thread.

The wines from the dinner were...

'96 Chartogne Taillet Fiacre Tete de Cuvee - 92

'01 Guffens-Heynen Macon Pierreclos Le Chavigne - 90
'01 Aubert Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay - 92

'01 Siduri Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir - 91
'99 Ojai Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir - 91

'92 Dominus (My WOTN) - 94
'94 Beringer Private Reserve - 91

'90 Ch. Reiussec (Almost my WOTN) - 93
NV Buller Muscat Calliope - 92

What a great night! I woke up with a pretty large hangover this morning and I left the afterparty early. I can't imagine how the rest of you feel. The food was outstanding. The service was extremely attentive and the wines were all excellent.

As an aside, the Grand Magnum winner was TCK, who recieved a pristine magnum of '91 Dominus (RP99). Braden (ttepper's homie) got a magnum of '96 Teofilo Reyes (RP92) and Winetex came away with a magnum of '00 Ch. Charmail (RP93).

Thank you all for coming, sharing your wines and celebrating the first year of Vinocellar.com. As I said before, the next celebratory gathering will take place on the West Coast. Hope to see all of you there.

I've never met Budman before, so it caught me as a surprise. I didn't know that you and Board-O are twins separated at birth. It's good to see you together again!

You know what's funny? When I clicked on the link, using dialup, the picture loaded from the top down. I had to see well more than half the picture before I could tell who was who.

Just an estimate, but I counted (give or take a few) about 42 bottles or so...

I know j_b but not any others. The West Coast group needs some names.

Some very lively ladies but... you gentlemen... I don't know.

I'm frightened ... I recognized almost everyone, and could figure out the rest. Well, except for one or two.
Cheers, y'all
