| What a fantastic night we had with the Jazin's last night. They have a beautiful home and we did some serious damage. Although I drank as much water as wine (gotta get home). The food and cheese were outstanding as well. The cast of characters is the normal NJ Wine Syndicate crew: ojeffso, mrs. ojeffso w/ baby ojeffso's and family, Revlis, LCC and mrs., Short w/ baby short's, ttepper, kelly, braden, Board-O and mrs., the jazin's and me.
Wines with my # rating, didn't write notes...
'75 Weingut Riesling Spatlese (I didn't get the site) - 90
'01 Melville Inox Chardonnay - 90
'00 Dehlinger Chardonnay - 85
'00 Spelltich Chardonnay - 86 (I picked up some oxidation nosewise on this, but no one else seemed to, probably just my sniffer)
'01 Sea Smoke Botella - 91 (needs cellaring)
'01 Argiano Solenga - 93
'99 B & H Ode to Picasso - 93
'99 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon - 86
'02 Marquis Philips S2 Cabernet Sauvignon - 87
'02 Marquis Philips Shiraz #9 - 89
'01 Parson's Flat Cab/Shiraz - 90
'01 B & H Petite Sirah - 92 (Tight as a drum, but you can see the potential.)
'01 Turley Tofanelli Zin - 90
There might have been another wine that I forgot. I left before the dessert wines, as I know it would have rendered me like Board-O, passed out somewhere in the house before dinner was served. BTW, Board-O was the life of the party. Just that the light burned out too quickly. Great fun. Thanks again, Jazin's!

| JB...
Great note as usual. I sorta was wondering where everybody was last nite. I got home after a marathon wedding and reception expecting to have to read a zillion posts!
Was the Pride cab that bad? Do you see any upside potential in your MP scores?

| Yep, a great night. A BIG thanks to Jazins for putting this together @ their place. Very nice. We should this more often.
While I did not take detailed notes & did not really concentrate on rating any of the wines. Here are my thoughts on the wines:
'75 Weingut Riesling Spatlese: very nice.
'01 Melville Inox Chardonnay: not my style, pass. Almost like a Sauv Blanc.
'00 Dehlinger Chardonnay – did nothing for me, pass.
'00 Spelltich Chardonnay – pretty good. I liked it. '01 Sea Smoke Botella – like it. Will get on the list.
'01 Argiano Solenga – good wine.
'99 B & H Ode to Picasso – Man, I love this wine...
'99 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon -
'02 Marquis Philips S2 Cabernet Sauvignon – liked it. Glad I have some.
'02 Marquis Philips Shiraz #9 – liked it. Glad I have some.
'01 Parson's Flat Cab/Shiraz – good wine.
'01 B & H Petite Sirah - 92 – good wine.
'01 Turley Tofanelli Zin – good wine.
00 Parry Cellars - good wine.
Budman: I brought the Pride. And, was very upset. Very upset. Actually pissed. Nothing going for it @ all. And, the $55.00 that it costs. It's upsetting. 5 bottles remaining. I will sell what I can & leave 1 bottle as a "test" bottle in a couple of years.

| Sounds like a great evening with a fascinating cast of characters. I envy you guys, having so many wine friends around that you can put an evening like this together.
Anyway, did anyone happen to notice the name of the winery ("winegut" in German) or vineyard site on the '75 Riesling Spatlese?
Thanks. And, like Budman said, it was awfully quiet last night ... we missed you guys.

| You know, if we would all move to Monaco then it wouldn't which side of the country we lived on and we could all share together.
The wine-line you had looks wonderful.
Any pictures? | | | |

Good choice. Monaco is probably just about bid enough to house the regulars on this board.
If not, there's always Andorra, Lichtenstein, and San Marino!

| Thanks JB- it sure was quite a night! The dessert wines: accompanied by Board-O's Carrot Cake, Revlis's Cheesecake and LCC's Chocolate Mousse Torte. TOKAJI ASZU 1993 2001 Gandia Fusta Nova Moscatel Thirty Beach 1998 Reisling Ice Wine from Ontairo,Canada- wow!! Baldwin Vineyards, (NY) Raspberry Wine (which was great poured on Revlis's Cheesecake) And a 1993 PORT that TTepper brought that I did not get the name of.
But one of my favorites wines of the night was the 2000 Parry Cellars Cab that Short brought- wow! I loved it... there was 1/3 glass left in the bottle, so I am trying it again tonight and its just great stuff !

| Miss Jazin really outdid herself. Everything was great. Braden and I finished off the Port at 3:30 AM. I guess the nap helped. | | | |

| '75 Weingut Riesling Spatlese -- Quite interesting to have, while very good, I thought it was losing it a litle. '01 Melville Inox Chardonnay - A bit astringent after having the Riesling. I should've eaten something first. '00 Dehlinger Chardonnay - Didn't try. '00 Spelltich Chardonnay - Didn't try.
'01 Sea Smoke Botella - Medium bodied, liked a lot. A buy. needs time. '01 Argiano Solenga - LOVE THIS '99 B & H Ode to Picasso - Love this too. '99 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon - It was ok, but bad QPR. '02 Marquis Philips S2 Cabernet Sauvignon - Liked this better than JB, but had higher hopes. Still good QPR though. '02 Marquis Philips Shiraz #9 - Same as the S2. Still good QPR. '01 Parson's Flat Cab/Shiraz - Liked this better than the #9 '01 B & H Petite Sirah - Super tight, but I'm with JB. Lots of potential. Lots of chocolate too! I love chocolate in wine. '01 Turley Tofanelli Zin - This came around more and more as time went on. A well done Turley!

(I smell Vanilla, is that you guys? Awwwee maaaaan!!!!) jb's rockstar appearance -- 100 pts. LCC's bowing to the God's of Ode to Picasso -- 100 pts. | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Jazin for hosting a wonderful shindig at their beautiful (if remote) home! I've always wanted to see what West Virginia looks like!
'75 Weingut Riesling Spatlese -- still vibrant for a 28 year old white! pretty enjoyable '00 Dehlinger Chardonnay - good '00 Spelltich Chardonnay - pretty good
'01 Sea Smoke Botella - good stuff, needs time '01 Argiano Solenga - my WOTN - what structure! '99 B & H Ode to Picasso - typical unabashed fruit bomb '99 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon - decent, but embarrassing '01 Parson's Flat Cab/Shiraz - closed, with good potential

| | I want to here Ojeffso's opinion on the Marquis Phillips stuff. He had great things to say about the latest vintage earlier this year and I was wondering if he stands by them considering the scores dished out by my man JB. Personally I think the new shiraz and Sarah's are good, but I have not tried the 9 and S2. | | | |

| | I liked them more than jb. I think that a little sweetness in a very rich wine is not a negative. They are certainly young and I believe they'll benefit from a little age. | | | |

| TCK, FWIW, I think the best wine of all the '02 MP's is the Sarah's.

| Board-O,
I agree, I think that stylistic appreciation plays a big role in the way people rate MP wines. Some love it some don't, that's it.
