| While waiting for a wedding to begin my parents and I took in a few stops in Amador.
The trip was better than the wines. I can only imagine this is what Napa was like 20 years ago(wine quality aside) with no pretensions and tasting fees.
On to the stops and the wines:
Charles Spinetta
I was interested in tasting these wines since they were primarily Italian varietals and with a name like Spinetta(no real relation) I had high hopes. I shouldn't have...
NV Charles Spinetta Heritage Red (Barbera, Primitivo and Zinfandel)
Pale ruby, medium minus nose of black cherry, strawberry and bramble. Medium minus body, medium intensity and medium acidity. Macerated strawberry, black cherry and spice. 80pts.
2002 Charles Spinetta Barbera
Pale ruby, medium minus nose of sulfur, cherry and light strawberries. Medium body, medium intensity and medium plus acidity. Black cherry, strawberry, earth and oak. 79pts.
2001 Charles Spinetta Zinfandel
Medium ruby with medium intensity nose of vitamins, black cherry, raspberry, strawberry and bramble. Medium body, medium intensity and medium acidity. More black cherry, strawberry, cranberry and oakspices. 79pts.
2002 Charles Spinetta Primitivo
Medium ruby with a medium nose of cranberry, blackberry, raspberry, macerated strawberry and earth. Medium minus body, medium intensity and medium acidity. Black cherry, cranberry and strawberry. 80pts.
NV Charles Spinetta Black Muscat
Light cranberry color, medium plus intensity nose of blackberry jam, jammy red fruits and cranberry. Medium body, medium plus intensity and medium acidity. Black berry, raspberry and cranberry. 80pts
Renwood
Probably the highlight of the stops. Very friendly with decent zins, though I most admit I am not a fan of zinfandels, so most would probably score them higher.
2002 Renwood Amador Barbera
Medium ruby, medium minus nose of spice, cherry, strawberry and dark raspberry. Medium minus body, medium intensity and medium acidity. Blackberry, raspberry, spice and black cherry. 82pts.
2001 Renwood Sangiovese
Medium ruby, medium nose of dried cherry, dust, earth and dried strawberry. Medium body, medium intensity and medium plus acidity. Dry cherry, red fruits, earth, tar and spices with light fruit tannin. 83pts
2002 Renwood Fiddletown Zinfandel
Medium ruby, medium intense nose of bramble, black berry, cherry, black berry jam and oak. Medium body, medium plus intensity and medium acidity. Jammy blackfruits, strawberry, earth, bramble, cherry, oakspice and dill. 84pts.
2002 Renwood Old Vines Zinfandel
Medium plus ruby, medium intensity nose of spice, bramble, jammy blackberry, raspberry and dark cherry. Medium body, medium plus intensity, medium acidity. Dark cherry, blackberry, raspberry jam, spice and oak. 86pts.
2001 Renwood D’Agostini Zinfandel
Medium ruby with some oranging and a medium /medium plus intensity nose of earth, blackberry, bramble, black cherry and cranberry. Medium body, medium plus intensity and medium acidity. Blackberry, dark cherry, jammy raspberry and bramble. 85pts.
Vino Noceto
Primarily Italian varietals, this was a fun stop though it is weird to know more about the wines having never had them than the gentlemen pouring the wines.
2004 Vino Noceto Rosato
Pale salmon pink, medium nose of strawberry, peaches, and cherry. Medium light body, medium intensity, medium plus acidity. More strawberry, cherry and light raspberry. 82pts.
2002 Vino Noceto Sangiovese
Medium plus garnet, light browning with a medium nose of cherry, spice, jammy red fruits, and earth. Medium body, medium intensity and medium acidity. Spice, black cherry, red fruits and earth. 84pts.
2003 Vino Noceto Sangiovese (recently bottled)
Medium ruby, medium nose of jammy redfruits, cherry and raspberry. Medium body, medium intensity, medium acidity. Jammy red fruits, spice, red cherry, showing some oak. 82pts.
2002 Vino Noceto Sangiovese Riserva
Medium ruby, medium plus intensity nose of cherry, tar, raspberry and earth. Medium body, medium plus intensity and medium plus acidity. Black berries, spice, earth and leather. 83pts.
2003 Vino Noceto Misto Sangiovese(Trebbiano, Malvasia blended in)
Medium ruby, medium plus nose of strawberry, cherry, cranberry and earth. Medium body, medium plus intensity, medium plus acidity. Earth, jammy red fruits, strawberry, cranberry, raspberry and cherry. 83pts

Medium ruby, medium nose of black cherry, strawberry, bramble and spice. Medium body, medium plus intensity and medium acidity. Black cherry, raspberry, black fruits and spice. 83pts.

2003 Easton Sauvignon Blanc
Pale straw, medium minus nose of white tree fruits, herbs and minerals. Medium minus body, medium intensity and medium acidity. Pineapple, tropical fruits, and white tree fruits. Not varietally correct. 77pts.
2001 Domaine de la Terre Rouge Viognier
Pale plus straw, medium intensity nose of tropical fruits and white tree fruits, non-descript. Medium body, oily, medium intensity, medium minus acidity. Tropical fruits, tree fruits, also not varitally correct. 80pts.
2002 Domaine de la Terre Rouge Tete-a-Tete (Syrah/Mouvedre)
Medium ruby, medium nose of cherry, strawberry, spice and earth. Medium bodied, medium plus intensity, medium acidity. Cough syrup tasting blackberry, black fruits, black cherry and earth. 83pts.
2001 Domaine de la Terre Rouge Mouvedre
Medium plus ruby with a medium nose of black raspberry, black cherry, black fruits and spice. Medium body, medium plus intensity, medium acidity. Black fruits, black cherry, earth and raspberry. 83pts.
2000 Domaine de la Terre Rouge Sierra Foothills Syrah
Medium ruby with garnet hints. Medium intensity nose of spice, raspberry, cherry and black fruits. Medium body, medium plus intensity, medium acidity. Jammy black berry, raspberry, spice, cherry, cinnamon and nutmeg. 84pts.
2000 Domaine de la Terre Rouge Sentinel Oak Vineyard Syrah
