We had a great time last night at the Kosta Browne & Holdredge Dinner at Ralph's on the Park as part of the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. Dan Kosta was in town representing KB and John Holdredge was in attendance on behalf of Holdredge Winery. It was a pleasure meeting and talking to both of them. The menu and wines were as follows:

A Selection of Hors d"Ouevres
(2002 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Rose Sonoma Coast)

Bluefoot and Shiitake Mushrooms on goat cheese brioche with a veall sauce enriched with bone marrow butter
(2003 Holdredge Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast)

Port Wine Poached Filet Mignon served chilled, thin sliced with a ort jelly, fresh horseradish rouille and spicy watercress
(2002 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Russian River Valley)

Lobster with Morels with a rich lobster demi glace and fresh English peas
(2002 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Cohn Vineyard)

Grapefruit and Rosemary Sorbet

Pan Roasted Breast of Squab served with wilted spinach, roasted Parisienne potatoes, and a natural sauce infused with Washington state bing cherries
(2003 Holdredge Syrah Russian River Valley Lovers Lane Vineyard

Taleggio Cheese with honey roasted walnuts and apple

Poached Anjou Pear Tart - poached in white wine and vanilla bean, in a puff pastry tart, with chocolate sauce and almond tuile
(2004 Holdredge Late Harvest Pinot Gris - not yet bottled)

First of all, the food was quite good and Ralph's should merit consideration for anyone visiting New Orleans. And while I didn't take formal notes, as expected, the KB wines really showed well and I found the Holdredge Late Harvest Pinot Gris enjoyable. If anyone wants more detail, please ask.

This sounds good - good KB Pinot and NOLA food. I'm sure Dan was excited after the big review.
