| Then drinks all the wine and leaves Tim with the check......
Oh well, the drink all his wine part was true. First, kudo's to Adam & Diana and their hiring practices, Tim really know's his juice and exudes passion for the business, well done. Secondly my many thanks to the entire Siduri family who made some really fantastic wines available for us last night they were all very good and they have me anxiously awaiting the next mailer. Also many thanks to Capitalkat aka Norm "the man in the three piece". Marvelously well planned and executed evening. Very good to see everyone and meet new folks as well, I'm consistenly impressed with great people I meet at the DC Cru events and for that matter how it's grown from a core of 6-7 into easily twice as many. Le'Paradou did a fantastic job, Chef Cam was masterful and easily should rank as one of this city's top chef's. Some over all thoughts on the wine and food.
WOTN for me was sared by the 2003 Gary's/Rosella's. When the Rosella's was poured the first words out of Johnny's mouth were "Oh now that's got the pinot funk." and it did and I loved it, it blew off in a few minutes and just kept evolving. I got some great coffee ground notes and carmalized sugar notes from the Gary's.
Surprise Wine of the Night: 2004 Sav. Blanc. I was impressed by how round and structured this wine was for first a 2004 and second the first Sav. Blanc from Siduri. Very good and a great way to open the dinner.
The food was fantastic. For me I think the two Amuse of Lobster Terrene and Shrimp with a Saffron sauce were marvelous. The Lobster was more of a cold soup but had a fantastic hint of tea in the broth which was the consistency of a hot & sour soup. The lobster itself was cold but pure and briney. Really fantastic. Beyond that the morel, scallop & parma ham soup was my favorite. This was intence with the scallop in the center of the dish wraped with parma which balanced out sweetness perfectly. The boudin blanc was fantastic, I've never had anything resembling a sausage which had that texture or array of flavors. The Fois was good but maybe a little too sweet for me I thought it detracted from the flavor of the liver. The Quail was good although there may have been a couple of lead shot in there it paired very well with the leftover Rosella's I had and the Syrah. I really enjoyed the Port and look forward to taking some of that off his hands in the near future.
Great time folks. Thanks Much. | | "It's better to have your enemies inside the tent pissing out, then outside the tent pissing in." -- Lyndon Johnson

| Nicely said....
Julie and I had a great time and it was very nice to meet the DC Cru in attendance.
Tim was very knowledgable and had a wonderful story about how he found his calling... he knew everything you would ever want to know about each one of the wines. A great ambassador to Siduri and to pinot in general.
The food was great and the wine and the company were a hell of a lot of fun. Adam timed that mailer yesterday beautifully... now i've tasted the grenache, the pinots, and the syrah on the list....
Julie and I both look forward to the next opportunity to drink wine with you guys...

| Apologies for the late post but what a great dinner we had - the food and wine were very good. Kudos to Tim for bringing the wines and for Chef Cam for the cool menu. Also a shout-out to c-kat for arranging a wonderful dinner.
It was nice to meet some new folks and see the regular Cru - hope to offline with you all soon!

| | Glad you guys had a great time. We dined there for my birthday and found the food and service to be exceptional. I am sure it was only enhanced by the wine and the company. Wish I could have attended. | | | |

Yeah you really missed out DW it was the best event ever!! I really don't think we'll ever be able to duplicate this meal. You really should have tried to move heaven and earth to be there because it was worth it. HAHAHAHAAHAh I was told to rub it in so rub it in I shall!!!! | | "It's better to have your enemies inside the tent pissing out, then outside the tent pissing in." -- Lyndon Johnson

| | Did you happen to look at their wine list while you were there? It is rather extensive, especially in Burgandies. | | | |

| i looked at it online before we went and it did indeed look large... and well stocked with burgs.
i had my hands full with the wines served... they kept coming and like Rawreds mentioned on the other thread they progressed nicely,.. from sauvignon blanc all the way to the port...
Raybanz took notes... or at least i assume that is what he was doing...
I really liked the RRV pinot which developed a nose of maple syrup after about 15 minutes.... the Syrah had an incredible nose of pepper ....and my wife and I both loved the Grenache as well...
very nice evening, just wish it hadn't been such a long table... made it hard to speak with everyone.
I forgot to ask Tim how long he had had the different wines open for... i know he went to "go prepare" the wine with the somm. while we were still out front, but i dont' know if they dbl decanted or not.... does anyone know?
i am definitely going to do my best to continue this DC Cru thing...

I just always thought writing stuff down at wine dinners looked impressive I never considered taking notes on the wine

| I swear, nobody ever takes notes unless I am there. Sheesh.
Sounds like you all had a most excellent time. I am sorry to have missed it but I had a *really early* flight to catch to go to New Orleans on biz the next AM. Dang it.
So who's planning the April Crü event? As long as it is not from April 7 to 16, I am quite likely in. | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| I'm none too pleased that I had to speak to a roomful of travel agents in Norfolk, who have no idea of where grapes grow and never heard of the word Siduri, instead of sharing in the evening's festivities. Sorry to have missed this one.
I agree with TJ's question regarding an April offline....who's up for getting the ball rolling??
