BTW....I called Merry Edwards because they have a new facility, and when I mentioned a group of 25 they basically freaked out.  WTF?  I even offered to bring the stemware....but they were not having any of it.  Strange shit.

Chris

Chris, who did you talk to at ME?

And, if you're looking for suggestions, how about Walter Hansel?
I spoke with Jackie, and then Ron.  They both acted with complete shock when I mentioned 25-30 people....as if they had never considered a crowd of that size.

Looking for more input on if I should even consider more wineries that day.  Everybody will have a car, so they should be able to hit multiple places on their own and then hit the bus for Small Vines/Freeman.  I don't want to exclude anybody for any reason...the Freeman dinner is the event of the day.  I do agree that excessive tasting before getting to Freeman made me a bit unready for it last year.

Unready and unruly?

We probably aren't interested in too many wineries before the Freeman event simply because we need some R&R before we get going at Freeman. Last year was very fun but a test of stamina. As you say we will all have cars so there are options during the day for all.

The Benovia cottage price depends on occupancy and time of year, varies from high 200's to high 300's as I recall. I've visited Benovia and the cottage looked like a great venue for a weekend get-away (only saw it from the outside).

Ok, you've convinced me.  I still want to do the Small Vines vineyard tour, simply because their project interests me.  I will be going tasting with a small group Saturday morning, so if anybody is interested in joining us let me know privately.  Thanks for the input everybody!  Makes my job that much easier.

We'd be interested in something 'educational' as well and perhaps a 'little bit of tasting'.

And maybe a nice hike would be good.

If you look at that $650 for two nights, and include another couple, you are talking just $162.50/night per couple.  Damn...that's a sweet deal!

Of course, there is tax and a cleaning fee thrown into the mix.....sigh.  They seem to get you one way or another!

Chris - if possible, I'd like a room with 2 queens on Saturday night only, definitely interested in the bus. My brother and I will be the guests.

This sounds great -- I'm really looking forward to it!!!

OK, just for the record, thanks Chris for the note that we have been moved up in group. We are in for Friday and Saturday hotel as listed and Saturday dinner, 2 for bus, 2 for Friday night if there is room. Any guidance on what type of wine to bring would be welcome.

Cheers, and Happy New Year...

Anybody know how to get ahold of Winegeek?  I tried to PM him without success.  If I don't hear from him in the next day or so I'll have to assume he doesn't want a hotel room or a ride on the bus.

Since we can not attend, we will miss everyone. You might want to bring a video camera as they did a recent eBob offline:

Pete, sorry you can't make it.

Chris, please add 2 more for the bus. I saw the first post and realized we are not covered there.

TIA

I added you to the wait list NCVL.  The guest list if pretty firm now, but you never know what happens.

For everybody else, we still have space available for the John Ash dinner on Friday night.  The Vintners Inn advised me the sun porch can hold 35, so let me know if you want to get added.  They wouldn't budge on the corkage issue (I was trying for $10/head), so we have $10/bottle corkage with a $300 minimum.  This is far better than their normal $20/bottle charge though!

I'm thinking 6:30 for dinner at John Ash??

Sounds good Chris, hopefully we'll make the cut and see everyone's bright cheerful faces.

I'll need to talk to the caterer, but I think I may be able to increase the cave dinner by two.  I'll let you know by the middle of next week, because I need to get moving on the contract.
