| For the DC Cru's May gathering, I propose a California Cab tasting at the David Z abode on May 15th (that's a Sunday) at say 2:00. We will supply hors d'oeuvres and some older California cabs. As relatively new members of the DC Cru, Mrs. David Z and I are blissfully unaware of the food gauntlets that have been thrown down by other members in past events. We will do our best to hold our own on the wine side though. We have a few Cabs that should be drinking well. I may even pull out some old chestnuts like the '85 BV Private Reserve, '85 William Hill and the '85 Groth to show what not to do when aging California Cabs. This will require a schlep to McLean, but my hope is that a Sunday afternoon starting time will make that more bearable. Please PM or post if you are interested. Seating(?) will be limited. | | |

| DavidZ...
Apparently as the only other DC Cruite awake at this time of the night, I'll be the first to chime in that T-Rep and Mrs. T-Rep will be happy to attend. When the Cru has been hosted at one of our homes...which for the 18 months that I've been part of the Cru, has been at Corkage's house several times, Doc's place in DC and my house in Fairfax. The attendees are usually asked to bring a bottle per person, with some cheese, if the host has been doing all of the cooking. Feel free to let us know what else we can bring and I'm sure that you'll get more than you need.
Thanks for offering to host us all...

| TravelRep and TJ that is great. Since we are doing very little cooking we will supply all of the food. All I ask is that everyone bring their own glasses (I recommend 4 or 5 per) and a California cab (young or old). | | | |

Bob says to **gently** decant it. Basically uncork it, and then recork it immediately. Otherwise, right now it doesn't like *real* decanting. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| David- May is looking tough right now but I think I could swing this. I'll let you know. I have some 01 Anomaly that I'll like to try. | | | "It's better to have your enemies inside the tent pissing out, then outside the tent pissing in." -- Lyndon Johnson | |

| Thanks for the posts. Bressler and Anomaly would be ideal! I can cover the older cab piece. Given the fairly modest interest level, I think that we should be able to cut this off at 12 attendees, which would mean that we will be able to get by with a single bottle of each wine. Let me know if you think that we should have a lower or higher number of attendees per bottle and I'll adjust the cut off point accordingly. I am still figuring out what to pour, but I think that it will be the '84 Ridge Monte Bello, '86 Spottswoode, 85 William Hill Gold Label, '85 Groth, and '85 BV Private Reserve.
Right now we have 4 attendees and 5-6 tentatives. If your status changes, let me know since we're close to filling up.

| While still technically tentative, it is looking more likely for me. But it'll just be me again as Mrs. TJ is tied up for sure that day. I'll 100% confirm soon.
Are we to bring anything other than wine? Perhaps stems? Cheese? Anything? | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| lrhf97, that's great. If you want me to open one of my Bresslers to save you the trouble of bringing an open wine, just let me know when you want it opened and decanted. Fred, the same offer applies for the Anomaly. | | | |

Right now I am on a mission to find some suitable cheeses. I think that I know what I want, but whether I can find them locally is another question.
