| I must have dinner with vinocellarites Saturday Jan 24th.
Who will go to dinner with me.
Jazins, I was thinking of Lambertville.... #9 or the grill.
Otherwise, ....... Afrim's new joint in Bernardsville.
Let me know if anyone is up for it. I'm going to pop something very nice.... very very nice. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter.... |

| Reservations on a Sat nt are sometimes hard to get... but it is January, so maybe... depends on how pp many we have. ...Acacia? Or Thai Chef in Somerville is usually easier to get a table and they have a huge menu of choices-Thai and Sushi, and a nice dining rm. We could start here w/ a bottle if we need to wait for people, or grilling something at our house is always an option as well. | | | |

| We went to Acacia in Princeton. We had a blast. The jazins, Rev, mrs. jb, lil' jb and myself. Food was very good. Lots of laughs and some very good wines, except the ones I brought. '01 Kistler McRae Chardonnay - a good wine, but not up to Kistler standards '00 Pride Merlot - very good '00 Pride Cab Franc - excellent '99 Del Dotto The David - disappoining '01 B & H Dr. Crane Cab - excellent '01 B & H Ode to Picasso - excellent NV Seppelt Tokay - very good, but the Buller is better for less $. WOTN to me was a toss up between the Pride Cab Franc and the B & H Dr. Crane. Great fun. jb | | | |

| Sounds like a great time with a great group. jb, a question about the 1999 Del Dotto The David. I have one bottle of this. Was yours an off-bottle and when should I open mine and how much time in a decanter will it need? (I guess that was 3 questions.) | | | |

| It was a great time- the restaurant is beautiful- and the food was excellent. I had the Butternut Squash Soup and the seared spice-crusted tuna, followed by a simple vanilla bean Ice Cream w/ butterscotch sauce- all heavenly! As always, great company, esp. little JB, such a great dinner companion and a charmer w/ the ladies already. The wine: My favorites were the Pride Cab Franc and the B&H Dr Crane Beckstoffer... the 2001 B&H Ode to Picasso was a close third, but it definately needs a lot more time, was a little tight- but oh, the potential was there to be an awesome wine! Too much wining and dining lately- but it is so much fun, we'll be dieting and resting our livers til REV's SuperBowl party next wknd! | | | |

| Board-O- I just had a sip of The David myself- it was very tannic and mouth-drying. Not my style...JB or REV can probably tell you more. | | | |

| I dunno, the only thing I can see on Board-O's post is: "you are ignoring this user" Does that mean something? | | | 2008: the end of an error | |

| Board-O. Take it easy. Some of us work on Sundays!
The David was very tannic. Despite the 2 hour decant, it was unyielding. Not a ton of fruit there either. It was just very underwelming. If I paid $75 or whatever this goes for, I'd have been bummed. But since it cost me about $25 (from davidn) it was not quite so offending. I don't know if this will get better, but you might as well wait a while. It's not showing great right now.

| Sure would be nice if Cave Girl could chime in here. She could probably let us know what the expected drinking window is supposed to be. | | | |

| Here's what Mr Laube had to say about the 99 'David'.
A touch rustic, with dense berry, earth mineral and gritty tannins wrapped around a core of pure raspberry, blackberry and boysenberry fruit. Holds it fruity focus through a long, luxuriant finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2010. Tasted twice with consistent notes. 300 cases made. - J.L. Rating 90 | | | |
