Oliveto Restaurant in Oakland California holds a Truffle Week every year in November. This years festivities are from November 11th through the 14th. In talking with the folks at Oliveto it is better to go earlier in the festivities to get a better choice of truffles (by Friday the choices are limited to nonexistent). So I would like to know who would like to join me to partake in this fun. You can either PM me or respond here. Also state which day you would prefer. If we have a large party (10+) they would like us to start at either 5:30 p.m. or 8:45 p.m. If the party is smaller we could probably be fit in anywhere (we could always cheat and book several smaller parties). Note that if Lafon shows up it would be quite the party so the later time would be better

Skwid:

You know how difficult it is for me to pass up an opportunity to go to Oliveto's, drink great wine, and engage in "low-key" winetasting banter with you. Let's get folks to go on Nov. 15th without truffles and just have a great dinner. What say you?

Lafon... YOU ARE WRONG! There I said it (inside joke).

Yeah, it looks like during the week isn't good for everyone, although Davidn and JonesWineNo1 were interested in a Tuesday. Perhaps I'll just have to go to Oliveto twice in one week But then again after the first time they may not want to see me again, especially if I walk in with Lafon

I might be interested in meeting for dinner too. Not sure which night would work best for me. Probably flexible.

I would really like to have truffles. I would really like to meet Lafon.

You all decide.

I can be there early on the 11th. I can also (probably) be there on the 15th although that night JeffreyN has reservations at FL. He is still deciding whether he wants to take his mother or me.

Skwid:

You're so predictable!

DavidN:

I look forward to meeting you as well. Don't believe anything Skwid tells you about me! HE IS WRONG! I only wish I had been there at bacar so that I could properly introduce you to Debbie. She's a good friend.

I might also mention that if you all decide to go on the 15th, there will be a greater chance we'll get the guys on the staff who accommodated us with the many decanters and the sharpie last time. Skwid knows the drill.

I wish I could come up with some silly retort but... I just don't know???

GATC is a good customer of mine. And Lafon wants to buy a new dryer. I gotta keep out of this Eric. Afterall where real money is involved .

Let's do it on the 15th. Keep in mind I'll be missing an opportunity to be at the FL. What should I bring (duh!)? Should we try some '97 Cabs?

The 15th is fine with me, I just figured some might want to try fresh truffles (they only do this once/year). As for what wine to bring, Oliveto is an Italian restaurant so Italian wines would work best. I unfortunately don't have much Italian wine and certainly nothing worth bringing to Oliveto (they have a nice wine list which is well choosen though fairly small). I think I might be able to bring either a port or Champagne.
