| We are bringing this thing back to life, but a few parameters have changed. Michael Browne has graciously allowed us to utilize the Kosta Browne facility for this tasting, and in order to make this as easy as possible on him we are accepting. We are picking Saturday, 7/19, as the date, as that is the only weekend date open for Michael between now and harvest. I apologize if that leaves a few of the original confirmed list out of the picture, but it's either pick a date and go or this doesn't happen. We will start the tasting at 1:30. The expectation is that everybody will eat a big lunch first, and this thing should run for several hours. There will be a cheese tray available at the tasting should anybody need a break from chugging Pinot. You should bring your own stemware.....while the KB boys have some stemware, I don't wish to exhaust them of it all and leave Michael the chore of cleaning up after us. I am going to arrange for tables and chairs to be brought in. That and the cheese tray should be our only expenses. I'll advise of these minor costs as soon as they are known....shouldn't be more than $10/person. Of course, the price of admission is a bottle of KB.
Here is the original attendance list, with the few who have already indicated they can't make it omitted. We have yet to determine how many we can accommodate, but we are talking about 34 different bottles of Pinot that Kosta Browne has released so far. Now nobody is going to try all 34....most likely.....so is it safe to open it up to 34? Does anybody actually have a bottle of 2000 Cohn? How about the 2001's? We can't have everybody on this list bring a bottle of 06 RRV!
The "List" (as of 5/18/08, * = confirmed):
Michael Browne (1) *
David N (2)*
Chris R8der (2)*
tangelnet (2)*
Craig Haserot (2) Richard J (1) DonB (2) JKen (2)
Dr. B (2) Tom Genn (2)* Gus/Katy (2) Randy W (1)* Winetoomuch (1) NCVL (2)* Running Total 24
Waiting List: Steve Mesa (1)
Scott J (1)
Jeff (Drew's friend) (1)* More details to come! Please confirm as soon as you can so that those on the waiting list can be moved up if you can't make it.
Chris

| Chris,
In regards to wine, my KB selection is not that deep. However, I'm happy to purchase from a fellow VC'er or to buy at auction. We should make a list of who's bringing what and start piecing it together. | | | TN posted on Cellartracker"

Sorry to hear it Brent. I hope that's not the case for the bulk of those who originally signed up for this!

At least you have one bottle that I know of.

| Fred (Saut) x 2 can make it that weekend...sounds like a once in a lifetime event! (i.e. pretty soon there will be too many different Kosta Brownes)
I have also only recently got on the list, but happy to trade for something you all need. Please let us know if spots open up.
Chris, are you going to be organizer emeritus?

Good to hear it Fred! I have no problems being the organizer of events....it's helping me to see where my life is headed after retirement..... The one benefit to organizing events is you never have to worry about being wait-listed! Chris

| I talked to Michael yesterday.....and he said that nobody will have the 2001 Cohn. They never released it due to brett issues. Regardless, he indicated he didn't see an issue with making a bottle available....he said it's tasting much better now that it's been in bottle so long. They made a very small amount of 2000 Cohn, so we may need to rely on him to make that one available. So what I need is for those of you with 2002's to chime in....those may be the hardest ones for this group to source. I had lots of them way back when....but they are all gone now. I can provide 2003's though.

They actually did sell at least some of the 2001 Cohn since I bought some way back when from a retailer in the middle of nowhere Sonoma County. Michael graciously let me trade in the bottles for something else (02 Cohn iirc) years ago.

| Interesting Dan....thanks for the info! So I take it you tasted it and the brett was overwhelming?

| | My October 2003 Oeno-File review of the 2001 Cohn doesn't mention any brett and it would have if I thought it was a problem at the time. IIRC Michael told me there was brett in some of the 2001 Cohn so I traded in my remaining bottles the next time I was at the winery. | | | |

| Doh! I'm sad that I have to miss this event but I'll be in Chengdu China visiting family and seeing the aftermath of the 7.9 earthquake
While my family is all okay, lots of damage. Hopefully I can make myself useful there for a few weeks.
Hope you guys all have a great time! KB is yummy!
