| Just wanted to gauge some interest for the next DC Cru offline - Dinwiddie, TJ and I were thinking about themes and these possibilities came up: - "open the last bottle" - bring a bottle of that singleton that you have - "introduce us to a new producer" - bring a wine from a producer that the group likely has never tried before
And separately, perhaps we do some sort of vineyard/vintage horizontal vertical. We can do something like:
- Pinot battle: RRV vs. Sonoma Coast - vintage horizontals (likely lots of 2003 and 2004s Pinots and 2001/2002 Cabs out there among the Cru) - blind tasting! (kind of like the Lavandou dinner we had last winter)
We can break this down to two meals and schedule separate offlines. What do you think? I have probably two more months of freedom before the baby comes so I'm motivated to make this happen.

| Count me in and I have no problems with the themes you've come up with.

| | There's a possibility that Mark Neal and Gove will be here in mid March and may join us for a wine dinner- around the 17th but confirmation still pending- so keep that in mind-- Norm | | | |

| | We will be out of town mid month (too bad) - and will likely be pretty busy otherwise...but we could be in for something in April. How about old(er) vintage & young of the same wines as a possible theme?

| I was talking to Dean last week and he wanted to let us know that he was hoping that the Crü would be back in soon. He suggested that the chef would be willing to make something special for us around wines, and in fact suggested we consider Rhones. In any case, he has certainly treated us right the times we have been there, and I'd love to do it again if we can. I'd also be very interested in a dinner with Mark and Gove if they came. I love the idea of "orphan" wines, as well as a shoot out between PNs. I can probably make it most nights, but I'm finding it much harder to get up to go to work when we have them midweek. If we could do it on a Friday or Saturday, I'd love it. Otherwise, the only days I'm already committed to something else is 2/28 and 29. | | | |

| I think we should do one during the week and one for the weekend. Norm, you should go ahead and plan the Neal dinner (I'll be out of town around that time) separately.
How about something the week of 2/19-21 (tues-thurs) or 2/26-2/28 (tues-thurs) and another 3/21-22 (fri-sat) or 3/28 (fri)?
Mid-week dinner I think Dino would be ideal (free corkage Tues and Thurs) - we can find another location for the weekend event.

| Would everyone be up for a dinner at Dino on 2/26 (Tues)? I think the "last bottle" and the "new producer" theme would work nicely for this
I think the March dinner would lend itself to a more organized theme. I know we haven't done a US-themed one in a while - how about a 2001 Cal Cab "check-in" flight along with a Pinot flight (we can have Russian River vs. Sonoma Coast vs. Anderson valley etc)?

| | Great ideas jaimitown. I might be up for a dinner on the 26th but don't know if the wife will be into it. I'd also love to attend a 2001 Cab event (though we will be away mid/late March for a bit). I've got plenty (of 01 Cabs) I've been wanting to open including (unusually for me) some top names even...lol ...I have some Cali Pinots as well - but not sure about 01s... | | | |

| I think I can make it on the 26th, but will have to check my calendar. Orphan wines sounds like a great idea. Depending on the date, I'd love to make the March one too. I can come up with an '01 Cab that I want to try and you know that coming up with the PNs would be no problem.

| If people can't make it on 2/26 I can make it on 2/28 (Thurs) as well.
For the second dinner, depending on how many folks can come, I was envisioning two flights:
2001 Cal Cabernet check-in 2002-2005 Pinot flight (we can do vineyard specific or a vintage/region thing - very open!)
As for the venue, I have some ideas but I need to check with Management first...

| | I can make the 26th, but I think Mrs. TJ will pass on this time (but maybe hit the March one depending on where it is?). We need to try someplace new(er). I am bummed we missed out on the two Brasserie Beck dinners. That's an idea of a possibility maybe. | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| I can make the 26th, as long as we don't stay until past 11 again like we did at Corduroy, I'm getting too old to spend the night out drinking and make it to work at 7 the next morning in any shape to be coherent. | | | |

| So far for the 2/26 Dino date:
jaimetown TJ dinwiddie T-rep (2?) Winoman
Let me know if you can make it for sure so I can confirm with Dean for 2/26. To kick things off, I'm going to bring a bottle of a producer that I imagine most of you haven't tried - the 2005 Clos du Mont Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Cuvée du Papet (their luxury cuvee).

So what is everyone bringing? Remember the theme is "open that last bottle" or "introduce the Cru to a new producer." Remember it is also free corkage night!

| | I have no idea what I am bringing yet. A quick look makes me scratch my head to find something y'all haven't tried already or that is a singleton or both. This will be a bigger challenge than I thought! | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |
