Thanks guys. Good reads. Are the salmon in most sushi bars farmed or wild? They have such red hues that sometimes I wonder since the wild salmons seem to have more pink hues.

What she said.  Most of the packs at the market are labeled "with dye added" now.  Kind of depressing.  That said, I haven't taken a firm position against farmed salmon.  I generally do not buy it (at least 2 or 3 years), but salmon is great with pinot... so I'm an equal opportunity carnivore.

Not to get too far off track.....but I have a post that's not about salmon!

Because the cousin of a friend happens to run Vintners Inn, they have offered to handle our room requests at $145/night.  Their normal rates run $195/up.  We could then do the Friday night dinner at John Ash.  This will also put us much closer to the Freeman facility.  Thoughts?

Yes, the Vintners Inn is both nicer and closer - so the price difference would be worth it to me. And, the John Ash dinner worked really well last year.

This sounds quite good. We are game for this one if others are. Can they accomodate all of the room requests? thanks

We're a definite GO for Vintner's Inn. $145 is a helluva deal. I'm tempted to take two just because...

They are holding rooms for us already, so yes, they can accommodate us.

I don't believe they are dog friendly.  I will ask though...can't hurt to ask!

If they aren't, it's very centrally located, so another dog-friendly accommodation should be easy enough to find.  Either that or leave your dog with Eric! ;-)

So AlohaJ, can you confirm what your needs are for hotel rooms?

I need everybody who hasn't confirmed yet to do so in the next week or so.  Thanks!

I will advise when I am sending in the contract.  Once the contract is sent in, you are locked in...so now is the time to firm up your business plans.  If your plans are sketchy, the best bet is to make your own hotel arrangements.  When you do these contract deals, there is very little wiggle room for last minute cancellations.

J,

Sure!  But with my standard mark-up of course.  That'll be $195 please .

It is great to hear that you are going to be there.

You gotta job yet?

R8der,

I can't commit to a room right now, so please don't worry about me in that respect.

David,

I have been offered a few, just figuring it all out.

Since we are getting a bus for the ride to and from the event, I decided we should have the bus take us somewhere first on Saturday.  I have tentative plans for us to visit and taste in the vineyards of Small Vines Wines, a new winery that has been getting a lot of internet press lately.

I am working on departing the Vintners Inn at 2:00 and arriving at the vineyards for SVW around 2:30.  They are close to Freeman, so it should work out well.  It should be a good educational experience to learn how they are farming these grapes, and I'm hoping we'll be able to taste while we learn.  More details coming.

I received a quote for the bus, and if we fill it up (31 passengers) it's going to come to about $35/person.

I'm going to include the bus list on the first post in this thread.
