| I heard great reviews on this small little bistro in San Francisco. While I'm sad that the smackdown isn't happening, I'm still going to drink good wine that night!!Â

$30 prefix...owner said he'll waive 4 bottles if we bring 12 bottles so about $10 per person corkage.

| | Hi my names Matt, I used to post here, but I was unregistered for lack of activity. I'm here to stay this time! I live in San Francisco and I would definately be up for this event. I'm hoping since this isn't a smack down, we could bring some more affordable bottles. I can bring an 05 Robert Foley Syrah, I tasted it the other week at Bacchus and Venus and liked it. If not, I can go pick up a good cab say between $50-$100? Let me know what you had in mind for the dinner. I'm easy to please, and don't think I've drank a whole bottle of wine myself since freshman year in college (but your guy's events are always 1-2 a person !!??!) | | | |

| | Yes sorry, the petit sirah it is, have you tried it? The wine is almost black, it is drinking fine right now after some air. Your right no Syrah, Shiraz or any other phoneticly similar varietal coming from Foley, but if there was I would probably like it. I havent tried his charbono but might be worth a shot given the low pricetag. | | | |

| It was pretty fun. A lotta folks should up. The restaurant was smaller than I would have preferred and the stemware was not good. Good thing Jamie Kutch had some extra Riedels. I hope Cassismatt starts posting more. He was a fun guy to sit next to and bought the Foley PS. We joked that it was a nice dessert wine but in reality, it was very nice. Roy from the Ebob board brought a nice Cellani Family Cab that's Mark Herold's newest project. I thought the wine was nice but at $80...might be a lil steep.
My 92 Schoolhouse Pinot seemed to have some VA. Didn't care for it at all.
We had a white burg that was fantastic. I am not good with French names even though I'll be going to France tomorrow but it was good!
Lots of nice wines but more importantly, lots of cool people to share a drink with.

Just one more example of a wine on the sweet-side that has the potential of going with any course i.e. not just dessert.
Therefore... there is no such thing as a "dessert wine"! Only SWEET wine!
