Since an October dinner seems to have fizzled out, why not get a November dinner going.... So what dates can we get a quorum for? The following Friday or Saturday evenings are open for me...Nov. 02/03/09/6/17/23/24. Midweek dates are more difficult due to my travel schedule and Thanksgiving. So what works for y'all? Let's make this one work!!!! T-Rep

any of the proposed dates work for me right now-- Like TREP I think Friday or Saturday is best for me-- but I'm flexible-- and would like to get together now that travels have slowed down.   Norm

16/17 would probably be best for me. 3 & 23 are definitely out for me and very likely so are 2, 9 and 24

we could do the 16th as long as it isn't a quiet place. i can do the early part of the month friday/sat but since TJ whittled it down i would rather the 16th than the 17th (leaving the 18th for KC).

If other dates work best for others, don't make me the bugaboo. There will be more of these that I can make.

But if it works date-wise, should we go to a usual place like Dino or Lavandou or maybe even Circle Bistro? Or do we go someplace new (to the Crü) to some or the DC scene -- Proof, Hook, Blacksalt (T-rep would love that place). Or someplace else?

BTW, Alex, your kid is adorable!

thanks TJ.

well turns out we are leaving on Saturday in the AM for KC so i don't know if we will be able to make a friday night Cru dinner. maybe, but it isn't a Slam Dunk. or is it? i forget. whichever one means "i'm not sure".

I certainly hope that I will be able to leave Karen alone for an evening by the 16/17 weekend, in order to go to a dinner.  By then she should be in a cast and no just the splint like she is now.  It has been toooooo long.  Saturday nights work better for me, but Fridays are OK too.  Mid week creates too many headaches (both literaly and figurlatively) at work the next day but they are doable on occasion.

I have no problem with anywhere we choose as long as I can get there on the METRO.Â

I'm with Dave - I have a running commitment through Friday nights over the next several months... don't let me hold you guys down though.

Is there interest for a mid-week offline on the side? It's been a while since I've been to one it seems.

James, any chance that you could make your way to DC for some impromptu mid-week Burgundy dinners?  We could probably get a small group of like-minded individuals together at Lavandou or some other Metro accessible place.Â

Glad to see the DC Cru is still trying to hold it together. I'm still to form the Tampa Cru, but it's going in spits and spurts.

Trep-- I'm ok for the 16th-- The wife and I went to Proof a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it-- Name comes old Ben Franklin quote-"""Wine is proof that God loves us." Nice list of moderately priced southern hemisphere drinking wines, good selection across the board.-- If we have a some more pile on I'll make the reservation and try to get some wiggle on corkage.   Norm

Norm...

So far it looks like it'll be...

Definites
You and Mrs. Norm
T-Rep and Mrs. T-Rep

Maybe but not yet firmly committed
Poolboy and Mrs. Poolboy
Alex and Mrs. Alex
Dinwiddie

Shall we go ahead and make a reservation for Friday, November 16th at this time and see who from the not firmly committed list goes ahead and decides to commit?

I'll move from not firmly committed to fairly firmly committed.  I talked with Karen and she seems to thin that it will be ok by then to be by herself.Â

Do we have a place and/or theme?

We might be a possibility for the 16th. Interested but probably won't know for sure until we get into the month. (Also probably wouldn't be able to make it until 7:30-8pm)...so what's the theme?

Here's how I see it

TRep and Mrs

Capkat and Mrs

Dinwiddie

Winoman-maybe

Capkat friends 2 - maybe

I suggest Italian or Pinot- the food at Proof is not the hardy type and I can bring my last bottle of Neal Chard for openers. Or we might all bring a champers and then an Italian red for the meal. I'll call and feel out a set menu if anyone is interested- Trep remind me of diet considerations-- Norm

Anybody else let me know--

Norm...

I'm good for either Italian or pinot...my only dietary consideration is that I don't eat meat or fowl. Seafood, yes...veggies, yes.

Thanks,
T-Rep
