Dinwiddie and I had a conversation about this today while Roguefooding about the DC Metro area....

I haven't seen much of the Crü in the past year. A couple of events and lots of handing off or picking up wine, but that's about it.

What gives?

Are we all busy? Bored with wine? Annoyed by the new forums software here?

Just curious.

I'd like to see more Crü events again, maybe we can kick start it in the fall if y'all are still up for it.

TJ...

It's interesting that you should bring up this point....Mrs. T and I were just discussing this recently. I've been tempted of late to start a thread to see if anyone was interested in getting something going but wanted to see if anyone else was willing to step up to the plate and start to coordinate it, but no one did. Are we losing our interest? Have we opted to do wine dinners via other avenues and groups? I don't know the answer. So, why don't we take this opportunity to see who's up for something in July...why wait until the fall and lose more momentum? Who's up for it or should we consider the DC Cru d.o.a?

July is always a busy month for me, but I am willing to join in on something and even help organize it if there are willing participants. I'd love to see some of the old-timers that we haven't seen of late....

TJ...

Mrs. T and I are always interested a Cru get together. Son T-Rep is getting married on July 28th so the last weekend of July won't work for us but we should be available earlier in July...and where are those "old timers" like Raybanz...Corkage...JohnnyB?

Late July is always rough for my wife and I. August will be easier.

Who IS in the Crü anyway, either by showing up the most or not for a while or bestowed honorary status? Anyone have a complete list?

Me
corkage
johnnyB
jaimetown
dinwiddie
travelrep
capitolkat
alexred
dave
fred (moved on!)
whiner (moved on!)
raybanz
Purple Haze (left to form the Maryland Crü???)

I know that I am missing people. At least 3-4 more that don't smack me in the head right now. Who am I missing?

What does it take to have honorary status bestowed on someone ?

I have a quick trip to DC in early August, and a longer one in September.  Anyone up for a get together on Saturday, September 8th, or sometime early in the following week ?

yeah. Scottj comes to at least 2 a year with the DC cru so i think he definitely sholuld get mentioned. eheh.

I am sorry. i am overdue for organizing one of these things and we had wanted to do something at the house maybe in the afternoon (don't expect a Dave or Corkage show though). I have dropped the ball this summer because of Julie and the torture it would be for her to have everyone over drinking good stuff. but that isn't a real excuse... my fault for being a free-rider. i wil have to see what i can do to make it up.

We ate with Doc and Pat in May with T-rep, Mrs T-rep, Winoman and his wife, and newcomer Jace, so it isn't like it has been months.... Trep did a great job organizing that one juggling it while going to africa and back. Winoman and his wife have been to quite a few dinners and should be in the group, and Jace seems poised to become a regular.

on get togethers over the next 4 months or so i will be lucky to make anything but i will work on it. closing in on 5 weeks out... so who knows what is going to happen. i would like to make a Sept 8th dinner. I bet Dave will take odds on that though...

summer time gets busy for a lot of people. what weekends do people have open in July? or should we settle for a weeknight?

Didn't we also have someone who *used to* live in NoVa or near enough who also moved away? To NC or Texas? And there was another guy who lived sort of in the tidewater are (or closer to) that sometimes got together with Dr. T (where the hell is he???)?

AlexRed...dude, you'll be out of commission most likely for 4-6 months after your baby arrival date. Good luck, though. I hope you've invested in Sepracor (maker of Lunesta)!!! I think we need to work on an August or September get together. If you can make it, super! If not, there will be more.

ScottJ...I'm in. September 8th is a Saturday, but a weeknight thing the following week early would work for me, too.

Let's change it to something better, winoman. Not sure what. You attend events, but there are large gaps of time in between. I couldn't think of a better term. Let's just drop the sabbatical for now.

I love you DC guys. Not only are you one of the few groups that takes 4 pages of posts to figure out whether you want to have an offline you also have threads to figure out if you're even a group. ;)

i am kinda confused about the "are we a group?" idea of this thread TJ. there was a dinner in March we missed april but we had one in May, this month we didn't... 3 weeks into a month when we don't have one and we are in jeopardy of being defunct? did you forget May with Doc and think we haven't had one since March?

I am up for trying to get something going in July (assuming the baby doesn't come early) Does anyone have any openings? i will even make the calls if people have ideas. Might be my last for a bit. it might be cool even to do a little afternoon BBQ like some of those west coast people seem to do, looks fun, although it might be nasty hot. Summer is a difficult time to plan.

Perfectly stated.  I had to leave DC because it was easier getting an immigration bill passed then set up a DC Cru dinner.
