JT...

I agree totally and told Kaz that I didn't think we could be done in 2 hours. That's why he said he wanted to get back to me, but if he can only do 2 hours, I'm inclined to suggest we switch to a mid-week event either at Kaz's or Sushi-Ko...

We might be able to do 3 1/2 hours. If we switch to a mid-week event, let's not even consider Kaz unless they eliminate the corkage. What is there to recommend them ($20 corkage and no set menu option)?

I think our problem is the desire to have sushi and Champagne. I much prefer the weekend events, it's easier on the body the next day, and am not wedded to sushi.

How about we try to figure out something that we can do on the 27th (since RW will be over for most restaurants) have a good meal, and let those who want to bring champagne do so, while letting some of the others who are not so champagne blessed in their cellars, bring something that they want to showcase.

I know that Restaurant Kolumbia has a reservation for that size available (ain't OpenTable great) for that evening, and I'm sure others would too. Much as I'd love to do Sushi Ko or Kaz, it doesn't seem to be in the cards, and I don't want to let the month get away.

dinwiddie-- good call- I'll still bring champagne but I'm not wedded to Kaz or Sushi-KO-- there seem to be too many complications, not enough time , wrong days, and this shouldn't be this much work-- 27th is good for me-- Norm

Oh all you naysayers....you didn't wait for me to get back to you.....

I spoke with Kaz today and he's willing to give us a table for 12, as much time as we need. He's proposing a cost of $65 per head plus $5 per person corkage for a total per person of $70. We can either order off of the menu or he'll customize a menu for us. I'm game for this....say yea or nay and let's put this baby to bed.

Sounds good to this naysayer. I'd just as soon let him customize a menu for us.

Very well done! I need to consult on this one. I am told that the weekend of the 27th is a rare 4 day weekend in the Fairfax schools.

I should be good to go - what is everyone bringing? If there is a lot of bubbly, I can bring some red burgundy...

I'll bring a 1997 Gaston Chiquet Champagne Brut or maybe something else. Champagne is not my strong suit.

T-rep is indeed a man among men, a god dare I say?!

Champers is not my strong suit either, but I'll manage.

This is indeed true (and why we will be in sunny S California that weekend!) - Not a Sushi fan anyway - but have fun guys - sounds like you'all finally worked it out (I was beginning to wonder)...

We're definitely in. I'll have to go shopping for some champers, though. Anyone got any stuff they'd like to try that they think I can get locally? I am a champagne-idiot.

Hope you guys have a great time. I'll remember my time with the DC Cru fondly. Even if it was only once.
