Do we know anything about Sushi-Ko's stemware situation?

My guess is that we should probably bring stemware at any of these places. I just can't imagine them having a lot of Champagne glasses!

When we went to Kaz Sushi Bistro a few years ago, they also suffered from a lack of stems so we brought some to supplement what they had. I'll guess that Sushi-Ko will be the same...

Sushi-Ko said they could accommodate us any Monday-Wednesday and I assume that this includes Restaurant Week, Jan 14-20. How does Jan 15, 16 or 17 look for the Cru, assuming that they will take us during Restaurant Week?

During Restaurant Week? That might be a mistake. I am game though. Let's just order off of the menu if we go that week. They have one of the better Restaurant Week menus.

My vote is for sushi-ko - I'm out the middle of January but toward the end will work for me. Thanks for taking the point on this T-Rep.

probably won't know til the week before whether i'm in for this one. it will depend on whether my wife is working that night since i won't do sushi without her. night i'm guessing she'd most likely be off would be wed. 1/17; the least likely mon. 1/15. and for what it's worth, i would stongly prefer a la carte dining. will keep watching this thread...

I'd much prefer a Friday or Saturday since I hate getting up to go to work after these things, but if that isn't possible I'll live. Tuesdays are best for me since my wife has a class on that day and I'm usually at loose ends anyway.

I'm still curious why Kaz said that the 20th was still RW unless he is extending it like some restaurants have a tendancy to do. (I note that Dino is doing it all month.)

12-19th- no can do- but anything before or after is OK. I prefer the set menu as I think you get more variety, and bang for your buck--and I'd rather spend the corkage $$ on the food.

Any movement here?

It seems like everyone is good for later in the month. I'd prefer a weekend as well. So it leaves the following dates as best candidates --

Friday the 19th (except no CK)
Saturday the 20th (can't do it at Kaz)
Friday the 26th
Saturday the 27th

Right now, I think either of those dates would work for me, but what about the rest of you?

I do not have a preference between Kaz & Sushi-ko. Either would work fine. Anyone know what the deal is with stems? I have lousy stems for champers so if we need to bring any, I'd have to grovel and borrow from y'all.

Yes, it seems that most of the Cru prefers to do a weekend evening rather than a midweek night. Based on my conversations with both restaurants, that would eliminate Sushi-Ko since they can't do a group on the weekend. That would also mean that we'd have to go to Kaz Sushi Bistro, order off of the menu and pay $20/bottle corkage. If the Cru is okay with this, then Kaz it will be.

Mrs. T and I cand do Jan. 26th or 27th but would prefer the 27th.

So chime in folks and thanks TJ for the nudge and forcing me to get off my fat tuchas....

In perusing the thread I see 4 votes for Sushi-Ko and one for Kaz. In a perfect world I'd like a weekend event too, but not if it means $20 corkage!

Well let me see if I can draw out Mrs. TJ to a weeknight affair. I'd like to try Sushi Ko as we've never been. But either way, I am up for anything.

I think that we should just set a date and go with it. If it is the 27th at Kaz, then that's fine with me. My guess is that Kaz will ultimately settle for $10 per person corkage. At the last dinner that I went to at Cafe 15 they wanted $30 per bottle (up sharply from prior events). We ended up at $10 per bottle, but that is a high end restaurant with endless glassware.

Okay....executive decision here....Kaz Sushi Bistro, January 27th....a la carte sushi off of the menu...I'll try to get them down from the $20 corkage. I'll call them to see if we could do 12 or so people at 7PM and post their response.

Perfect! We need some leadership. If you get them down to $10, I am in. Otherwise I'll live vicariously by the tasting notes.

Spoke to Kaz yesterday and found that he could confirm us at 6:30PM on 1/27 but we'd have to be done by 8:30PM so he could turn the table over for another seating. I asked if there were any chance he could let us stay longer and was told that he'd have to call me back after checking things out....I'll touch base with him tomorrow. Also didn't have a chance to talk about reducing the corkage.

So who's in based on these times?

T-Rep and Mrs. T/yes
TJ and Mrs. TJ ?
Dave/Yes if we can reduce the corkage
Alex and Mrs. Alex?
Raybanz and Rita?
Dinwiddie?
Newsguy and Mrs. Newsguy?
Jaimetown?
Corkage?

Who else....

JMHO, but two hours is never enough for an off-line...
