I'm going to have to bow out as we will be moving into our new home a bit earlier than planned (and with the hot water heater going on the fritz in my current home today moving has taken on a new urgency if I want hot showers).

Can occasional posters get in on this. Hate for you to be understaffed.

I need to talk to Alison. I'm sure she'd love to be in on this too.

Ormbee,

Of course you're welcome to come. You may be "occasional" but you sure have been here for a long time. Last time I saw you you were worried about baby sitters and remodeling your house. The kids are probably in college now but I'd bet the remodeling is still going on.

Naw, I just keep adding kids. The inside remodeling is done. At least until NASDAQ hits 4000 and we can afford to do the kitchen.

Still leaning toward attending, probably solo unless I fall in love between now and then (just ended a three year relationship). Anyone have an attractive single wine-loving sister or cousin?

AS FOR STEAKS: LOS GATOS MEATS< UNIVERSITY AVE. JUST SOUTH OF BLOSSOM HILL RD> hole in the wall. I buy things from there, grumble at the price, cook them, and the difference from Lunardi's or Safeway is astounding.

What's the planned start time? The sitter wants to know.

dave_tong, it will be good to see you and Alison again. I'll let DavidN answer the start time question, but I would guess it will be relatively early, as he has his date with his pillow.

The only suggested source for dead cow so far is Los Gatos Meats. Is this the place to go, or are there others people would recommend ?

I know that a lot of people like LG meats, but the only time I have been there, I got a spoiled ham.

There is a Whole Foods at Blossom Hill and LG blvd that does a pretty good job, although I think the pork selection there is better than the beef.

Here's where I think we stand ...

Attendees:
scottj
winetex
davidn + mrs davidn ?
gchadwick
gratification
ormbee
dave_tong + alison

If I missed anyone, I apologize. Please post so we have a good headcount.

Location:
davidn's home, at a time to be set by davidn

I suggest you send davidn a private message if you need directions.

Food & Wine
BYO Steaks - Los Gatos Meats and Whole Foods in Los Gatos have been suggested.

Gratification has offered to bring some side dishes.

I encourage others to think about bringing something to eat or drink. There will be plenty of Dunn, but one cannot live by Cabernet alone. Please post so we all have an idea of what others are bringing.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday !

6:00pm is a good start time for us but if you want to show up earlier any time after 5:30 is cool.

If you want a map send me your email address and I send you the map.

IMO Los Gatos Meats is not that good for what you pay. Whole Foods is better. When we want good meat we go to Robert's Woodside Market or Draeger's.

If you want to go "nuts" and spend a ton of dough there's Alexander's Meat Dept. at their restaurant in Cupertino.

But hey... This is a "picnic" so to speak. You'll probably burn your meat on this unfamiliar girll. And I'll have a few hot dogs on the side if we need.

Yes. But first we are going to pound it to make sure it is tender.

There used to be a butcher shop near my store that had a big banner out front that said,

"You can't beat my meat!".

Which reminds me of a great t-shirt I saw at the 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks versus New York Yankees World Series:

It takes more than 9 yanks to beat our Johnson

14 cases just unloaded from UPS into the cellar. Now we have something to do besides just drink.

What, make sure that you have tons of white BBs all over your house?

I was thinking we could help you move the wine from the shippers into racks if you like. When removing the bottles from the shippers there are sometimes a ton of the little white styrofoam BBs.
