| Talking about the cult smackdown made me think - there's too much emphasis on the high priced stuff.

| I'd argue that there are way too many good cabs in the bracket to have just one flight, that it merits a seperate event.

I agree with you. Some people might want to participate and can only afford to bring a bottle of $50.00 bottle instead of $150+ bottle.
That said, what are the general requirements of this cult cab offline? Are we supposed to bring one bottle per person or one per couple? I've never been to one so please advice. | | | |

The requirement for events like these is typically one bottle per drinker, though you're welcome to bring additional bottles if you wish.
So, if there was a budget cab tasting in the Bay Area (not that I'm committing to orgainising it or anything)
* who would be interested
* where should it be held ($$$$ restaurant, $$ restaurant, someone's house, non-catered location)

| What about the idea of forming a south bay tasting group, then every other month we meet at someone's house (or convenient no-corkage restaurant) for a tasting? There is the BAWE, but those tastings are usually up in Oakland or the like. Aren't we deserving of something along the same lines?

If someone would organize the first one we could get together. At that meeting someone could volunteer to be the host for the next tasting. That host would be responsible for getting a place to meet and maybe picking a theme. We just keep passing the host position to volunteers every meeting.
For me a lot depends on the number of people that will want to come. I am not interested if it gets too big (we should have such a problem). IMO the right number of people is 10-12 at a tasting. Any more than that and you can't sit at a single table. It also means that everyone will be able to get a taste of every bottle. I don't like these deals where there is pretty much two different tastings going on; one at each end of the table. I want to be able to talk with everyone and not have to yell. | | | |

You can spit, arrange transportation or stay in the hotel.
Last year I left my car in San Jose and got a taxi home. Way cheaper than a ticket.

Really? I just listed 20 off the top of my head.
As for hosting, our humble abode would be too small but I can probably book
