So it turns out that Mrs. T is traveling to Raleigh, NC on May 21st and doesn't want to do dinner on the 20th....sorry Mike. Doing dinner on May 22nd will actually be the best for me since Mrs. T will be out of town. TJ, if you're not able to do the 20th, let me know and I'll be happy to find a place in DC to do dinner.
T-Rep

Sounds like your ideal solution is to join Mrs. T on the Raleigh trip and do dinner down here!

Drew...

Love your suggestion but Mrs. T will probably be happy to be in NC with me in VA....absence makes the heart grow fonder or something like that....

My son lives in Chapel Hill and I have a new tour operator client that's in Raleigh so I have more than one reason to visit your neck of the woods....perhaps we can do dinner some time!

It sounds like Monday the 22nd is best for everyone else. I am not certain I can make that date -- it is doable theoretically, but just a tad harder for me it being a work day that day and the next and all.

Might I suggest that, of those who could make the 22nd, please go ahead and organize something for that evening and touch base with MB. It's probably best to PM him over on winodepot for speed of communicating with him.

I will see if I can work out meeting up with him on Saturday the 20th myself (and anyone still interested in joining us!).

I'll PM MB over on WD to see if he's available on Monday, May 22nd and will see what restaurants can take us. If he's able to do dinner, who's in plus me?

Unfortunately we have company this weekend and the wife is out of town from the 21st to the 24th so I will not be able to make it as I have shlepping/cooking/parenting chores that week all by myself.

Unfortunately, Julie and i won't be returning from boston until monday evening, into BWI, so it would be very difficult for us to be able to make a monday night dinner.

I heard from mbansek by PM saying that May 22nd works for him, so I'll take the ball from TJ since he thinks that he won't be able to attend. Does anyone have any specific theme in mind or should we just do a free for all? 7PMish is probably the time we'll shoot for. Attendee list looks like this so far...

In
MBansek (3?)
T-Rep (1)

Out
Dinwiddie
AlexRed and Julie

Haven't heard from yet
Jaimetown
Corkage
JohnnyB
CapitolKat
Marty
Dave
Winoman ?
PurpleHaze?
TJ?
Who else....

Please chime in with suggestions on a theme.

I'd like to attend, gotta seek a pass from the wife. Maybe I can use the unused Bye Bye Fred Pass.

I vote for anything in CBD or west-side. Maybe something new like Notti BIanche or Circle Bistro.

Spoke to Johnny today, he's jammed up at work and not sure if can attend.

Corkster....

Hope Nicole will issue the pass and you can come out and play....

What type of food does Notti Blanche and Circle Bistro have...I'm not familiar with either one of them.

Notti - upscale italian, Circle - french american bistro, both have websites if you want to take a look (you can link from opentable). Both are lesser known "darlings" of the foodie scene. NOtti has a $10 corkage, sometimes waived.

We are in, whatever the locals decide. No restrictions to speak of on diet, cost, etc.

Just need to have an idea of what wines to bring by Friday night, we fly out Saturday a.m.

I called the Circle Bistro to see if they can accommodate a group of us but they have a maximum of 2 bottles of wine per each table that they allow to be brought in. Based on how the DC Cru drinks, two bottles works for about 2 of us, so I don't think that this is too feasible. Corkage is $15/bottle. I'll check with Notti Blanche to see what their policy is regarding bringing vino in and report back later.

So far, not too many Crudites have chimed in.....what's taking so long????

Reservations are confirmed for the Cru at Notti Blanche at 7:30pm on May 22nd. Waiting for a call back from Danny to work out a menu/etc. I was told that they normally charge $20 per bottle for corkage but that this can be worked out with Danny. Roll call so far....

CapitalKat, although he's still probably in Italy...the lucky bastard...

Who have I forgotten?

The menu is upscale Italian....so if you have Italian in your cellar, then feel free to bring it. If not, no problems....just bring something that you'd like to drink.

I'll post shortly re the menu and cost.

Update time....

Dinner's set for Notti Bianche at 730PM on Monday, May 22nd. I spoke with the GM about doing a 4 course menu...salad followed by a half portion of pasta, a meat/fish entree and then dessert and am awaiting his comeback regarding cost. I should have that by tomorrow. The restaurant is at 824 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. Their web site is www.nottibianche.com if any of you want to take a peek at their menu.

Corkage is still $20/bottle and they're trying to limit us to 2 bottles per table but this is apparently negotiable.

Here's the latest participant list...
