TJ, you and Dave get final say, of course, but as a gesture of good faith, I think you should start things off with a dozen wines we can all vote on for you to bring I'm not worried though, I think Yellowtail makes at least six wines, so that should get my list in under the wire.
But seriously, TJ, getting two people to match up single bottles of, say, Burgundy is a tall order. We probably should just let Mr Enthusiasm (aka JohnnyB) bring all the wine, and we can just bring real bottles he can use to replace the plonk from his cellar.

| TJ pm'ed me and asked for some whites or some champagnes.... Since I don't know the menu, I figured I'd up the ante on the mystery. As such, here are some selections from my cellar (available in two bottles or magnums) that I have yet to taste:
2001 Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg Riesling Auslese Trocken "S" (Note: "trocken" means dry, i.e. not your typical auslese)
2003 JJ Christoffel Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Spatlese
2003 Dom. Grand Veneur Chat.-du-Pape Blanc "La Fontaine"
2004 Dom. Weinbach Pinot Gris Cuvee Ste. Catherine
2004 Dom. Weinbach Riesling Cuvee Ste. Catherine
2004 Dom. Weinbach Riesling Cuvee Theo
Then some wine I know goes with lots of stuff:
2004 Donnhoff Riesling Nahe
NV Bollinger Brut
NV Billecart Salmon Brut
NV Billecart Salmon Brut Rose
NV Piper Heidsieck Brut (the January champagne of the month for all those who want to post notes but don't have any!!!)
And to round out an even dozen, I can bring a double bottle of... mystery wine (insert mysterious gremlin here).

| OK so people want to know what their hard earned $$ is buying. We are doing 4 courses..ahh..but each course will have have the same main ingredient prepared 2 ways. Most of the menu is new, but a couple of old favorites that most DC Cru folks have not not tasted will appear. And we will have amuse bouche. Without futher adieu:
FIRST COURSE
PAN SEARED LOBSTER TAIL & BUTTERNUT SQUASH RISOTTO
Goat Cheese and Fresh Sage
BLACK SQUID INK LOBSTER RAVIOLI
Roasted Pepper & Saffron Gorgonzola Cream Sauce
SECOND COURSE
SEARED PHEASANT BREAST
Sourdough Chestnut Dressing, Sour Cherry Reduction
BLUE CORN PANCAKE AND PHEASANT CONFIT
Wild Mushroom Cream, Mushroom Jus
THIRD COURSE ACHIOTE & CUMIN SPICED BRAISED RIB CAP
Bittersweet Chocolate Demi Glace
SEARED CENTER CUT MEDALLION OF PRIME RIB
Potato Puree, Rosemary Infused Red Wine Reduction
FOURTH COURSE
ΐ desserts TBD; choclate and vanilla]
No cheese this time (again). But next time as the menu this time for 15 will be ambitious.
I'll throw in a couple of bottles of Kistler Chard or Aubert Ritchie or some white burg. Or a couple bottles of vintage bubbly to kick it off.

The Christoffel is drinking well. Not out of this world, but well. Unless I've got '03 and '04 confused (which is always possible) the '04 vintage was incredibly ripe in Alsace so the Weinbachs are drinking slightly more like Zind Humbrechts. (If I've got the two vintages confused it might not be a problem as I'm referring to the vintage that was just released.) Not really mistakeable for a Z-H, not the sweetness, but still riper than you'd expect from a Weinbach. The Ste. Catherines are just better wines than the Theo. I'm a sucker for the Riesling, but have been for years (a sucker for the Ste. Catherine Riesling bottlings...esp the Schlossberg l'Inedit!) | | I can't listen to that much Wagner. What, you don't like my NV selections??? I'll add 1996 Bollinger and 1996 Lassalle Cuvee Angeline to my list. They should both be very good for kicking off with or for the lobster course.
