I'm going to do another Green Gables wine dinner on 4/13/03. Basically, here is the deal...

Outstanding French/Ital BYO on Long Beach Island. 5 courses-$75. FREE Lodging at the B & B. We will do a blind tasting of some sort. I'm leaning towards Barolo & Barbaresco, but not decided yet. Post here if you want in as there are only 5 rooms available at the Inn.

I'm really sorry to miss this one, but we're having a wine dinner at our home that evening. Also, a Sunday evening stayover would be impossible for us, since we have to get to work Monday morning. I'm sure you'll have a great dinner and I look forward to the notes.

Too short notice. Woulda been nice to make it, but I am scheduled to finalize my dad's taxes and my mom's taxes that weekend (nothing like the last minute!). Maybe next time.

JB,
Sunday is a killer for us. Too many family events going on.
Also, like Board-O, getting to work (at 4:30 AM) on Monday is always an issue for me.

Have a GREAT time. We of course expect photos and copious TNs!

Hopefully next time...!

Well, seems like no one can make that date. I will try to set something up for a different date.

JB, we wouldlove to, but we're having a wine dinner here the next evening and Saturday afternoon and early evening will require a lot of preparation. I won't have any other time, because we're also going to the Yankee game. I'm sorry to miss this. I think the switch to a Saturday night is a good move. I'll live vicariously by reading about it.

Let me know as soon as possible. I only have 2 rooms at the Inn available. We may change up the theme, especially because this will be a smaller group and not many have mature Barolo's.

There is a group in Nashville, TN (where I frequently travel) that does wine charity auctions. Great stuff. I got this email from them and wondered how many of you would consider these "Cult" wines? Would the dinner be worth $1,100? Maybe. I count about 3-4 cult wines here with how I define a cult wine. Justin makes a cult wine????

Hello everyone,

I wanted to send out some information about the upcoming Cult Wine Dinner that was sold at the Premiere Friend's Auction in April. Please see attachments for details.

If you know of someone interested in attending this dinner, please contact me as one of our guests is having a scheduling conflict and is interested in selling his spot. The cost of the dinner is $1100 but I could put you in direct contact with the gentleman to work out your own arrangement. Thanks again for your support of our organization and the fight against cancer.

Description of lot:

Cult Wine" at The Trace

Cathy and Fred Weisbrodt, together with Ken Perry and The Trace Restaurant are providing an extraordinary evening of good food and unbelievable California cult wine.

What defines a cult wine? Wine Spectator says. "Basically, it's one you can't buy. Small production and great demand collide, sending prices through the roof for the few bottles that trickle onto the market."

Stephen Spurrier, the well known English wine consultant and writer, describes cult wines as "Super-cuveés from small plots of vines, whose vineyard is so worked to produce low yields to make wines that will undoubtedly impress the consumer.”

Mark Squires, who is part of wine critic Robert Parker’s website, on Cult Wines: "I wonder sometimes if any of these wines get drunk at all. Sometimes, I think they are just commodities to be traded for status. The cults are just rare and collectible."

Well Mr. Squires, ten people will have the opportunity to DRINK 14 of these very rare wines which are in a class of their own. This dinner is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, 2006.
