But we were just at Corduroy. It's a little soon to repeat. But it sure was fine.

| | Equinox is good with me. I haven't been there since my first VC dinner. With this many people I think a meeting with management to go over the food, stemware and ancilliary items should probably be had. I would also like to propose that we do a little reception before hand at Equinox maybe Champagne? That way everyone can talk catch up before sitting down at their tables. | | "It's better to have your enemies inside the tent pissing out, then outside the tent pissing in." -- Lyndon Johnson | |

| Update time from me as well...
I left it off with Equinox that I'd give them a call to discuss theme, menu, corkage, price, etc...I'm off to Orlando tomorrow morning for a two day meeting and back on Thursday evening, so it won't probably happen until Friday or possibly tonight if I can get to it.
One alternative to Equinox however...Corkage and I have been going back and forth about his suggestion...Restaurant Kolumbia...located at 1801 K Street, NW in DC. This is the restaurant where Corkage had tempted us with his and his friend Brian's culinary skills in the special offline that was discussed some months ago. The restaurant is described as Modern American/Fusion in style and the chef is Jamie Stachowski. Corkster says that his cooking is right up there with Corduroy and Equinox and that he could work with us on tasting menu to go along with the wines that we'll bring. Corkster's going to give him a call to see if he can do our dinner and advise. I think that we should keep our Equinox reservation in place...I'll talk to the restaurant to discuss menu/theme for wine/etc. and see what Restaurant Kolumbia can do.
A few thoughts...I like Fred's idea of doing champagne before the dinner but don't know if Equinox has the room to accommodate this. I can certainly find out. We need to come up with a theme. If we do Cali Cabs, that limits our menu choices somewhat...especially for those of us non-carnivores, although I'm not totally opposed to the idea. What about only California wines? Whites, reds, sparking wines, dessert wines? That would certainly give us the flexibility to match wines with our menu choices. Any thoughts as to that or any other themes that you'd like to pursue?
Equinox has either 3,4 or 6 course menus at $55, $70 and $85 plus tax and gratuity. I don't know the cost of corkage. Restaurant Kolumbia has a 5 course menu at $55 plus tax and gratuity. I also don't know what corkage will cost, but Corkage thought that he might be able to get a better price than usual on it. So, it appears that Restaurant Kolumbia will be the less expensive choice.
I should have more info in a few days or so, but please chime in your thoughts about the wine theme and we'll take it from there.

| Both choices seem to be great to me. If Corkage will be able to build a menu around our wines, that would be hard to top. I really like the idea of loosening the theme to accomadate a broader range of menu choices. So I second your suggestion for a California theme. The trick (regardless of theme) will be to match bottles for people that are bringing a single bottle. Since Mrs. David Z will be attending I will bring two bottles of some California cab. Either 2 Groths or 2 Spottswoodes.
Everyone should post their wines so that Mr. Corkage will have something to work with!

| I just came in from a month or two in the garden. A day late and a dollar short as usual. I would like to come to this offline as June 4 happens to be about my only free day in June. Either place sounds fine. I like the idea of any California wine, not just Cabs. Any room?

| | As this will be my last OL for a few months, I don't give a &*$# where we do this thing, as long as my butt's in a seat, I have a glass in my hand, and 8.5-month prego Mrs. VerMag has the patience to get through it and drive my arse home! | | "We are the Hokies!" | |

Sorry to hear that you and the Rocket Scientist won't be able to attend. We'll have to take copious notes and maybe some pics and let you know what you missed!

| | There is not room to sleep in my garden - too many plants that require tending. On rare occasions during the summer, I actually sit down on the deck to admire the garden. Then it is useful to have some wine stocked up. So I have to do some research once in a while. | | | |

| Was thinking about
1x Littorai Les Larmes
and
1x AP Vin
if someone will match them...
I would rather try to pair up with someone as my cellar is made up of a lot of 2s and 3s at the moment and I would like to spread some of them out over time.
anyone else have any ideas on what they want to bring?
if someone could match either an 03 Loring Cargassachi or a Clos Pepe i could do that too....
