You know you shouldn't post after dinner and wine when you post in the wrong section...

Could any of the VC moderators move this thread to the Events section instead of the Random Thoughts section?

HHHHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I was a headlight on a north bound train.......

You should never post after dinner with a couple bottles of wine and the Grateful Dead Europe 72 playing in the background.....Oh well.

Fred, actually, it's the Dead at Winterland, March 20, 1977, Jerry's singing Scartlet Begonias right now...thank God for Archive.org...so more importantlly, are you gonna commit to doing a Cru dinner in April??????

My mum always told me never commit to anything when your knee deep in the sauce and listening to Jerry! I'll think about it.

Wait a minute...is it me listening to Jerry or you or both of us???

As for a DC Cru get together, I'm just floating the trial balloon, so to speak, since no one's decided to volunteer....

I'm going to be in downtown DC on the 18th and 19th. I should have a few bottles that TJ was interested in (they're supposed to be shipped to me this week), and was planning to try to meet up with him on this trip. I'll bring an extra bottle for an offline on the 19th, if you all are up for it.

I'm up for an offline sometime! What haven't we done lately?
Another cool thing about working as an account rep for a wine distributor is all the connections I've started to make (in the 2 whole days I've worked LOL) with restaurants in DC. As I get acquainted with more places, I'll see if I can arrange for an off-line at an exciting place.

Jaimetown:

Thanks for taking the lead on this one...I was afraid that since I posted the original thread about an April offline, that I'd have to plan it....

I'm coming back from a golfing trip to Myrtle Beach on April 18th and have a trade show to do somewhere in DC on April 19th but it should be over by 8PMish....hopefully I can be there.

Congrats on hooking your wine distributor gig...are you still doing Saturdays at Ceciles?

Where haven't we been yet?

701 would be cool, and Smith and Woolinski said that they wouldn't charge corkage if we came. I haven't been to David Gregory, and it's been a while since DC Coast. Tosca would be cool too. But there are a lot of choices. Corduory, 15 ria, etc.

Who do you have an in with james? And BTW, congrats on the rep. gig.

I am game for the April event. I would be willing to host a May offline at my house focusing on Ca cabs (and supply some bottles of older Ca cabs).

I don't have an in yet because I just started, but I do have some cool accounts with DC restaurants. Perhaps sometime this summer I can take you guys to one of my accounts and try to have a dinner sans corkage. (the fee, not our friend)

T-Rep, I'm no longer at Ceciles - doing the wholesale thing full-time.

How does April 22-24 (Tues-Thurs) look for everyone?

JT:

April 23 starts Passover for us Jewish folks...first two nights, April 23 and 24 are the Seders with the mischpuchah (that's family in Yiddish...) so both of those dates aren't good for me. Scottj mentioned that he has to be in DC on April 18 and 19 from Texas and since he has some wine for TJ, he mentioned those dates. If the 23rd and 24th are what works for the rest of the Cru, then I'll have to take a pass...

I'd be up for the April 19th date if that works. It'd be bonus to meet our out of town pal and it'd ease the convenience factor of me picking up my wine from scottj to boot.

If that is too soon in order to arrange something, that's ok. I'll coordinate with scottj otherwise and will work within the Crü guidelines on the chosen date (as long as it is not April 6 through 17th.

April 19-21 looks good for me (I can even do it on a Tuesday finally)
In fact I am pretty good for any Tues-Thurs. this month.

So all we need to do is pick a date, a restaurant, and if we want a theme.
