Jimmy: I never figured you to be a boy band fan.

I like the idea of NKOTB (Jimmy should know what this acronym means) wines for Fri.

Seek: The 2 “may be”, when will those people commit or not? With 2 weeks to go they are still cannot commit. The 2 people that I mention were willing to commit even a month ago...

The 2 maybe's are in another country right now. If your 2 guest can commit now please send me a list of the wines they can contribute and make them a reservation at the B&B. I also need your list of wines.

Here is the current list of attendees for the dinner Saturday June 4th. I need to see the wine lists if you have yet to pm me with it. Please see the wine descriptions below for what I am looking for.

Seek (2)
Cabhead (2)
STW (2)
MTpockets (2)
ojeffso (2)
LCC (4)
JimmyV (1)
Brad Molzen (1)
lake_george_rumrunner (2)
2 more possible

2 flights of 3 wines each of Bordeaux varietal/blends of outstanding quality. These wines can have age on them or be young, but should be of exceptional quality. As always I assure that the generosity will be matched well amongst all wines provided, so provide those lists with as high a quality as you can handle.

The last flight I would like to see something different than the first 2. I was thinking of high end California Syrah, Northern Rhones (Hermitage, Cote-Rotie) or even Priorats. This flight will depend on what is offered in the lists.

If any of you are going to this and don't yet have a room, I highly recommend the Brunswick B&B, right next door to the Springwater. I just returned from a stay there this weekend and fully endorse Kirk's operation. Try to get room "9."

mdriver: we are all staying & the Brunswick (pretty much the entire group). We stayed there 2 years ago also.

Seek: working on the Satur Night list as we speak.

A note for those attending the Fri Night dinner with the NKOTB wine tasting: Since this is NOT an official tasting & really we are just bringing wines from “new” producers to taste, I thought that we can post what we are bringing as to not duplicate the same wine(s).

It will be a smaller get together, I am sure, it always is…so, in that sense, we will have a good & varied tasting of these “new” producers. A good idea or not? I have no problem posting what I would like to bring for Fri. Input, thoughts, yes, no???

LCC, listing the wines for Friday is fine. I just need to find a new producer I have actually purchased from and hence have a bottle of.

Seek, you have not purchased a bottle or 2 from any "new" producer(s)? Is that possible? Really?!?

Define new. If we are talking new California Syrah, Pinot, or Chardonnay producers that have popped up in the last 3 years, then no I have not purchased any wines from them. The only bottle I have from a fairly new producer on the seen of the above mentioned varietal is a Magnum of Pax Cuvee Keltie. Other than that the newest producer I have any bottles of is Bressler.

Jimmy:

As for a theme, let me throw one out. There have been a lot of "new" wines popping up on this board over the past year, and not everyone has had the ability (or funds) to try all of them. I am thinking about things like Realm, Kobalt, Anomaly, Harris, Match, Bressler, Neal Single Vineyards, Kelly Martin, Drinkward Peschon and the like on the Cab side, and things like Favia, Kosta Browne, Radio-Coteau, Freeman, AP Vin, River-Marie, Peay, WesMar and the like on the Pinot side. Maybe we could try to put together a "New Kids On The Block" tasting where we pick some of these much-discussed, but not often consumed wines and see how they are. Or we could pair some of these newer wines against some more "established" wineries to see how they stack up.

Just an idea. You know me. I'll do anything. And very often, the less structured the better

...so, basically that's the idea.

Seek: do we know the # of people for Fri night?

I was looking @ the following (all "new" producers):
02 Anomaly Napa Valley Cab Sauv
02 Peay Sonoma Coast Syrah
02 Peay Sonoma Coast Pinot
02 Rivers-Marie Summa Old Vines Sonoma Coast Pinot
02 Rivers-Marie Summa Vin Sonoma Coast Pinot
03 Kosta Browne 4-Barrel Pinot
03 Oliverhill McLaren Vale Jimmy Section Shiraz
03 A.P. Vin Pinot (this is the bottle tha Andrew sent as a replacement for my original possible “bad” bottles to re-taste)
00 Pedroncelli Dry Creek Valley Vintage Port

Friday night is looking like 11 people (3 have said yes, but remain unconfirmed). I can find a bottle from a newer producer pretty quickly to bring to dinner, so I will post once I find one.

BTW how many would eat Foie Gras on Saturday???

Seeing how this is not California, foie gras is, as Buckwheat would say, "O'Tay!"

Beta testing a new signature.

Just a reminder for those coming.

First remember to bring your Vinum Bordeaux or comparable stems for the dinner Saturday night. We will have 3 flight of 3 wines each so you will want multiple stems for the wines.

Second, remember the weekend traffic can become a little congested on Friday's on the Northway around 5pm so time your trip. Dinner Friday will be between 7:00-7:30 unless I post otherwise.

The wine lineup for Saturday looks to be one of the best yet so come thirsty.

I will be posting some updates later today!

Dinner tomorrow night will be atSargo's at Saratoga National Golf Club. The restaurant/chef has waived all corkage so we should have great time.

Directions to the Brunswick House B&B where I believe everyone coming from out of town is staying;

I-90 to Albany follow signs to I-87 North. From Albany take I-87 North to exit 14, stay right and circle around to go back over I-87 continue through 2 lights. Just before the third light you will see the Brunswick House B&B (yellow). It is easiest for you to turn right at the light and go into the first drive on the right to park in the rear of the B&B.

To Saratoga National for dinner Friday night. Go back toward the I-87 and cross over. About 1 mile past crossing over I-87 you will see Saratoga National golf course (pond with fountain, island green, etc.) go in there and drive all the way back to the clubhouse and go in the front door. Dinner is at 7:00.

Call my cell if you have any questions 518-376-9294

What a weekend! Picture perfect climate, food, wine, company, get-away, spas, etc...!

Needless to say but needs to be said that Mr. Seek (yet again) organizes a perfect get-away weekend. Lots of THANKS to Mr/Mrs Seek.

Fri night was great! Satur night was beyond! The chef on Satur put together a 9-course tasting menu that was just superb. The Wines as you see were memorable!

Let's see (if you ask me) the # of WOWs on Satur:

75 Rieussec Sauternes
91 Dominus
97 Joseph Phelps Insignia
01 Hundred Acre
02 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon
01 Rudd Oakville Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvigon

...the rest were NOT far behind.

Again, thanks a LOT, Seek!
