This offline has just been changed due to an annual East Bay event that many are attending on December 5th. There are still places available:
My sister Trudy is coming for a visit from New
Jersey, and needless to say, she loves wine. I'm the only one in the family to have left! So certainly I plan to bring some special wines. I've been in touch with alotafagina and he has made reservations at Chapeau for Sunday, Dec 12th
at 7:30 for 16 of us (the max; two tables for
eight). He tried for an earlier time but the later time will give us as much time as we like.

I am confident this will be a great time. The drill - cost is 50.00 per person including your choices for a three course dinner(all inclusive), for excellent food, and no corkage fees.
We have had two other very successful offlines here, and the owner Phillipe Gardelle, is a great guy. We have plenty of time to think about the wine.

Thanks so much to Leonard for setting up this very nice dinner (and providing many of the wines!). We did five flights:

1996 Calera Selleck Vineyard pinot
2001 Williams-Selyem Rochioli Vineyard Riverblock pinot

1970 Montrose
1978 Giscours

1985 Ridge Monte Bello
1987 Montelena Estate

2001 Corte Riva merlot
2002 Olson Ogden Unti Vineyard syrah

1997 Rieussec
2001 Darting Durkheimer Nonnengarten Rielaner Auslese

All really exceptional wines. My WOTN was the 1987 Montelena, which is just beginning to take on aged nuances but still has incredible depth and purity of fruit. Other of my faves included the Calera and Montrose.
