| Saturday night I opened a bottle of '96 Teofilo Reyes after a long days worth of errands and shopping. This bottle of Spanish wine was given to me as a present from my brother this May, and I felt it was time to open it.
'96 Teofilo Reyes ($50-60?) Tinto Consecha Ribera del Duero
Gobs of milk chocolate (or is it chocolate milk?) on the nose immediately after opening - giving way to spice and fleshy dark berries. The wine is extremely juicy and plush with a spicy finish. Delicious bottle of wine right now - 92pts. This wine is a new world dead ringer in style - would like to see how this does blind in a flight of CA merlots or Cabs. This bottle drank beautifully on its own, and the spice notes came out with my ribeye steak. | | | |
