Maybe I got a bad bottle.... it seemed overly acidic to me.
I have some more to try, but will let them rest, melt some of those tannins off.

If you drink wine, you get smarter....

If Zachy's has it, it's not on their web site anymore.

Didn't you buy about 3 cases of this, lcc? And you still want more? Of course, after the one I opened a few weeks ago, I can't really say I blame you.

Oh, okay. Just checking.

That being said, if anyone else still wants this wine, I know where to get some. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Got my six pack this week.

Thanks John.

Oh, and thanks Vinocellar. This one otherwise would not have been on my radar screen.

No problem, assman. Give it a few weeks to settle and pop one open. I'd love to hear your impressions.

I finally got around to opening my first of 6 Numanthia I purchased. I had a small taste of this at ttepper's offline in early March, but the 3 minutes of air it had received was not enough.

14.5% alcohol ( I don't believe it)
$33

Full bodied with a dark garnet color showing deep purple at the depth of the glass. Aromatics of ripe plums, blackberry, gobs of black cherry and some slightly noticable heat that never lightened over the 6 hours of consumption. Tasting reveals a wealth of muscular tannins, dusty earth, sage, with rigid blackberry and blueberries proping up the fruit aspects. Flavors of black cherry and again plums finish out the finish that lasts for nearly 35 seconds. This is a strong tight wine and fairly monolithic at the moment, but once some cellaring has been obtained should soften and balance out.
Score 91+ (yes a plus sign)

Seek, how much time in the decanter did it take to show its best?

I consumed it over 6 hours. It was after the first 3 hours that it seemed a little more approachable.

Yes, this wine takes some time to open. I last had it in Jan/Feb. I'd recommend 6 hours minimum before this wine starts to show what it's made of.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to wait a few years to start on these.

We opened this one tonight to check its progress. Based on everyone's notes I decanted it two hours in advance. Initially it was very tight and syrah-like upon opening then it opened up wildly at about 2 hours.

I can't add much to the TNs on this one but my impression is that it is not a long-term (10+ years) keeper. It's more like a 3-5 years from now. JMHO but you might want to try one in the next couple of years.

Great wine - WOW wine - 93 points. Decant the heck out it.
