Drank a few days ago - a nice Albarino for $17, and a good match with pasta with clams:
- 2005 Bodegas del Palacio de Fefiñanes Rías Baixas Albariño D Fefiñanes - Spain, Galicia, Rías Baixas (4/17/2007)
Pale yellow and straw in color. This wine did not show very much the first night, but it opened up nicely on the second day. Aromas of lime, white fruits, chalk, and flowers. The palate reflects these flavors on a steely frame, showing the aromatic fruity notes on the elegant midpalate, finishing with the chalky, bracing minerality on the more forceful finish. Taut and focused, I craved for shellfish and sardines! Deliciously refreshing wine that is somewhat tight - hopefully it will open up more as summer approaches. (89 pts.)
