Ugh. I don't know what Orlando was raving about. Seriously, if this is what Jay Miller tasted, he is insane. The wine was completely out of balance. A ton of volitle acidity. VA. There were lots of overripe purple and black fruits and a nice caramelized component but, honestly, I couldn't drink this. This is sickeningly over-the-top and I really wonder if this is what Miller gave 100 points to. If it is, wow. Some people will be able to drink and enjoy this wine (Orando and Ramon). Not for me. 84

I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.

I also have had some serious disagreements with quite a few of Miller's ratings. The wines were decent wines, but were nowhere near the ratings that he awarded them. My ratings were, on average, about 6-8 points lower than his.

One thing that REALLY irritates me about Mr JM's reviews is that you OFTEN have to go find another review to get the actual tasting note. So many of his notes start out with "This wine is even more concentrated....blah blah blah"..........with no reference to the initial tasting note, much less any true info about the wine's character. That is absolutely ridiculous. In my opinion, he sucks royally and is a waste of space at TWA. Sad, because I need a good reviewer in Spain. Oh well.

ciao

It's pretty sad as we had the 2000 and it was pretty fantastic. An unusual flavor profile and well-balanced.

The 2001 Erasmus was one of the best Priorats I've ever had as well - it was drunk at Taberna del Alabardero in 2005 along with the raybanzes. That was quite a night!

Had my first '04 Erasmus and I liked it a lot, even if it unlike any other Priorat or Spanish wine for that matter.  The glycerin levels are huge with large amounts of chocolate infused fruit and port like flavors.  This is manipulated in very eye opening positive way, but not for the classic traditional spanish lovers.  I would not pay the tariff that this wine demands today, but I would like to own a bottle to see what happens to it.  94pts.
