I really wonder about Parker's tastes when I read the review on this wine. He gave it 96 points and to be fair Josh Raynolds of the IWC gave it 94 points. But absolute BLEEECCCH from me. - 2004 Bodegas Alto Moncayo Campo de Borja Aquilon - Spain, Aragón, Campo de Borja (3/24/2007)
Dark cloudy purple in color; Tasted blind I thought it was a Cali Central coast Syrah. One person in the group proclaimed "Spanish Grenache" and I thought they were joking. This was a poor example of Grenache - no varietal typicity. Otherwise as a wine it was a mishmash of blueberry, vanilla and coconut aromas and flavors with a layer of oak on top of that. Zero integration with otherworldly extraction. Not to my tastes (an understatement...). (85 pts.)
