| - 2001 Bodegas Alejandro Fernandez Ribera del Duero Crianza Pesquera - Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero (9/2/2006)
Served to me blind; Dark garnet red in color; The first whiff was a load of barnyard which narrowed me down to Europe. There was so much barnyard that I did not consider that this would be anything other than a Rhone wine. This bottle was so much better than one we had a year or so ago. It was medium-bodied and balanced with currant aromas and flavors along with that wicked "horsey". Very good wine and probably still improving. Maybe another bottle in 2007. There is great value in this wine. [~$16 on release; Decanted maybe 1-2 hours in advance of serving] (91 pts.)
