2001 Pasanau Priorat Finca La Planeta - Spain, Catalunya, Priorat (6/17/2006)
WIML89,PURPLE90,NOWA,WS93,IWC89+

Tasted June 17, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel Vinum Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Herbaceous nose with a jumble of fruit, potpourri and maybe some plum in there. Weird! Flavors of red licorice, red cherry and plum. Somewhere between dusty and drying tannins with fresh acidity. I’d hold a couple of years and retry again at that time. Probably needs a little more time in bottle to work things out. Based on the local retail price of $37.39 I’d say the value is cautiously acceptable at the moment thinking this might improve with time in bottle. (89 pts.)
