2001 Bodegas Muga Rioja Selección Especial Reserva - Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja (6/17/2006)
WIML86,PURPLE85,NOWA,NOWS

Tasted June 17, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel Vinum Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Ruby to garnet color in the glass, fairly clear throughout. Slightly closed nose giving up a little cinnamon, potpourri and some melted red licorice. Flavors of red berries and bitters. Drying tannins, light acidity. Unexciting. Drink over the short term. Based on the local retail price of $30.59 I’d say the value here is unacceptable. (86 pts.)
