| 1996 Bodegas Martínez Bujanda Rioja Conde de Valdemar Gran Reserva - Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja (6/17/2006) WIML87,PURPLE89,NOWA,WS83
Tasted June 17, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel Vinum Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Plum color in the glass, fairly clear throughout. Nose of barnyard, blackberries, pepper and clove. Flavors of red cherries, red berries, red licorice and some bitters on the earthy finish. Firm tannins with medium acidity. Drink over the short term. Based on the local retail price of $28.04 I’d say the value here is barely acceptable.
