Sorry for the lightness of the TN but this one was a couple of weeks ago. It is another nice Spanish wine. This is a blend of Tempranillo, Cab and Merlot. On the nose there was mostly currants, blackberry and vanilla. It was nicely complex right out of bottle and medium to full-bodied. This wine had good structure with a nice long finish. There was adequate acidity for short-term aging. It is in the Bordeaux blend style.
Decent QPR and better than many wines three times the price. I purchased 3 more bottles.

| Thanks for the notes,I have been curious about this wine. At Ojeffso's suggestion, I bought 2 of these about a month ago in NYC at a shop before our small vinocellar dinner at Willow. Knew nothing about it, but he said we would not be sorry, so since it was 24.99 was worth a try. I may have to open one soon. | | | |

| | I would give it about a 30 minute decant if you try it. Similar to a Syrah, I'm finding some of the Spanish wines match well to some of my more spiced meals. | | | |

| Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 1999 13% CS+Merlot+Tempranillo 18m in oak
This is what I needed while I waited for the Jumilla to open: licorice upon pouring, lots of ripe earthy fruit with Merlot stealing the show a bit. Enough body and excellent evolving nose to keep my interest during three nights. Rasp- and black-berry, earthy cherry and inky notes, with great depth of perfume, complex and elegant. Roasted coffee notes and excellent oak management. 91+

| | Tasted again last night. This wine showed very well against wines twice as expensive. Buy it and try it if you can find it. | | | |

| On our last bottle now - still terrific wine. It was really good with steak sandwiches.
It showed a bit better than before - I would give it 90 points this time. Very good pricing on this wine.

| I didn't like this wine as much as the rest of you. Considering Parker's 92+ rating, I considered it a disappointment.
We had this Saturday night with rack of lamb.
Tasted at 2 hours: The wine was opaque purple with an absolutely magnificent nose of cherries and chocolate. Unfortunately the nose promised more than the wine delivered. On the palate, the wine was a little sharp and tannic with some subdued flavors of dark fruit. Very disappointing considering Parker's 92+ glowing review two years ago. 88
Tasted again at 3 hours: It opened a little more. This needs at least another year, maybe 5. It's not an expensive wine, but I won;t be buying any more. I have one left which I will hold for at least three years. I'm hoping it's just closed now. 89

| This is one of the more consistent Spanish wines I've had. Last night it had the same profile as the original TN and matches extremely well with the food.
My personal rating is between 89-90. It doesn't quite have the complexity to hit 90 consistently but is a good food match. It is an interesting wine at a good price point. I'm with Board_O and am not sure where Parker found 92 points.

| | We had this wine again last night. It's a very opaque dark purple with a moderate strength nose of flowers, cherries, and wet earth. On the palate, the wine is still quite tannic and astringent with plummy flavors of dark fruit and baked apples. This still needs time but I have my doubts that it'll ever evolve into anything of beauty. Parker gave this a 92+. I give it an 88. | | | |
