This bottle was double-decanted 2 hours before tasting, and some seepage was noted at the top of the cork. It must been an off bottle because the descriptors that flowed around the room included: wet dog, underbrush, sewer overflow, sulfur, burnt popcorn, dirty fireplace, and domesticated gerbil fur. Not good. (70 pts.)

I'm with Winetex on this one Otis. Give this wine a REAL rating.

You guys are right, it's probably more like a 50-55 pointer. Then again, the wine was probably off, so maybe it deserves an "NR".

In any event, if you have any of these, you may want to at least check the capsules!

Cheers,

Otis

If the descriptors had included "used Diaper Genie" I would have guessed the descriptors came from Rose of davidandrose. But they do sound like her kind of descriptors.

Otis,
I had bought several of these on release, at least 1/2 were cooked with the tell-tale leaking or pushed-up corks. He's got some serious issues with shipping I suspect.

1996 Condado de Haza Ribera del Duero - Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero (6/11/2008)
WIMLNR

Tasted June 11, 2008 at an offline.

Opened and served immediately. Purple color in the glass, slightly cloudy looking throughout. Nose of shellfish, smoke, minerals and a bit of dried herbs. Flavors of red berries and maybe a bit of red cherry. Tart acidity, fully resolved tannins, light to medium body. Comes across as a bit thin on the palate. If I was going to rate this I'd say it's in the lower 80's at best on the WIML scale but I suspect this wine's provenance or it's simply towards the bottom of the other side of the hill therefore no rating.
