This wine is a Priorat blend of:

25% Garnacha
25% Cabernet Sauvignon
25% Carinena
15% Syrah
10% Merlot

14% alcohol

This is a tremendous blend of ripe grapes wonderfully crafted to seemlessly marry the fruit and terrior components of this masterfully balanced wine. The nose is wonderfully nuanced and complex with blue and black fruits. The palate is absolutely gorgeous... big and powerful while at the same time being sexy and nuanced. Many different flavors reveal themselves throughout the experience... Blueberry, blackberry, currant, and a light creamy milk chocolate are wonderfully intermixed with the spice, earthy minerals of the 80 year old vines and well integrated french oak. Tannins are neither light, nor heavy, and add to the harmonious structure that will help build this wine over the next few years, and have it last a long while to come. This is a terrific wine, and a pure pleasure to drink. Just decant for one hour and you'll have it made.

95 Points.

I agree with you and will be adding more of this to my cellar.

It's fabulous wine.

Brad/Short,
Have either of you tried the RT Amadis? If so, how would you compare it to the Tirant? I had the Amadis about a month ago and found it uninspiring.

Me neither - and thanks for saving me the time (and money) of trying it!

The Tirant is, to quote RP, "a special wine."

LCC - Looks like WHWC has it in stock for $66.99 - a very good price even when you add shipping.

Incredible nose of crushed blackberries, cassis, red earth, clay, bramble, a hint of blueberry and brown spice. Rich, full (but not massive) palate. Incredible seamlessness and lots of soft tannins. All the elements on the nose are present in on the palate and the finish in very long. NOTE: this changes (softens/improves) a lot with one hour in the decanter.94+

Thanks for the update, I haven't had one since the first TN.

Any thoughts on it's aging potential? Or is it ready to go right now with one hour....

Hmmm... I don't know, it is just so good right now with a little breathing time (although, man! it changed with just one hour in the decanter turning from a monster into a lush, balanced wine). I don't really see this going downhill for at least 6 years, perhaps much more, but I also wonder weather it will seriously improve. Personally, I only have 2 more and I doubt either will see 2009, but if I was deep I might hold at least one out for a decade to track its progress. Hope this helps...

Well, based on your TN, I dug one out for a bday dinner. Agree completely... the decanting time made a huge difference.... and this wine is so balanced and drinking so well right now, I'm not sure I will seriously age this wine... maybe save one or two for longer term, otherwise I'll drink most likely over the next two or three years.

I broke down and had another...

Just such a good wine and, frankly, with CA and Bordeaux prices what they are, a steal.

This is Spanish Harlan (yes, I know that sounds similar to something else). Not quite as agood, but it has the same new world AND old world sensibility with black fruits, tiny berries, cranberries, bramble, mint, and more black currant. (This also shows its oak a little bit more than most Harlan.) The nose is so complex with all of those notes, including some tar-y oak, then the palate is a little less complex -- it still has all of those notes but they seem more integrated. Astoundingly, as the finish begins, the wine gets MORE complex. The finish, which has gobs of fine, mouth coating, but not hard, tannins is incredible and at least 50 seconds. Yay. 94+

Thanks. I would say now through the next 6 years for sure. Probably another 5 or 6 years after that, but having no experience with aged vintages of this, I don't want to be presumptive.
