Greetings:
The rumor isn’t just a rumor, folks. ‘The Prisoner’ – big, strapping red fellow that he is – has gotten loose, and we have it on good authority that he is headed straight for our Wine Bar with his creator, Dave Phinney, in tow. When ‘The Prisoner’ gets here he will no doubt elbow everyone aside, pull his own cork, tell the barkeep to “line ‘em up” - and upend himself into those tasting glasses. Don’t you think you should be here to witness and partake in this extraordinary event?? If you are nice and talk real slow, he might even tell you how he came to be ’The Prisoner’ . . .
Goofy imagery aside ;>), Dave Phinney of Orin Swift really will be here next Wednesday. Those of you who have already discovered Dave’s wines, especially ‘The Prisoner,’ know that this is not an event to be missed. In addition to Orin Swift reds, we will pour in the flight the Veladora Sauvignon Blanc, and the superb, extremely limited Cabernet and Petit Syrah that Dave makes for the Stanton Family, growers in Napa Valley since 1947, and wine producers since 1999.
The cost for the flight will be $29:
2005 Veladora Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, Retail $25 2004 Orin Swift ‘The Prisoner’ Napa Valley, Retail $29 2003 Stanton Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Retail $65 2003 Mercury Head Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Retail $75 2003 Stanton Petite Sirah, Napa Valley, Retail $45 | | | TN posted on Cellartracker"

| Attention Local Benchmark Customer:
On September 6th from 6-9 p.m., we will be participating in a Retail Sales Event put on by the Butterfly Cafe, a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence Restaurant, in San Francisco. The theme for this event is Pinot Noir, so there are some great California Pinot producers attending and pouring at this event, and we will be pouring Burgundy wines from our European collection that will also be available for purchase. We would love to meet our loyal customers in person, and until we have wine events of our own, we thought this would be a great way to do that. We would like to extend you an invitation to this event, and if you sign up by August 15th (tomorrow!), it is only $40 when you mention that you are a Benchmark Wine Group customer. Click here for more info and to sign up to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!

Greetings:
Join us Wednesday, from 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Mark Neal and Gove Celio of Neal Family Vineyards to our Wine Bar to present a very special flight of single vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. And, when we say special, we mean special. We are going to feature all 6 of their single vineyard designated Cabernet Sauvignons together in one flight. This is indeed a unique opportunity, and the only time and place in Northern California, to taste all of these extremely limited Napa Cabs. At an average case production of 150, these wines see very limited distribution and are not even available for tasting together at the Neal Family Vineyards winery on Howell Mountain. This will also be a sneak preview as these wines will not even be released for retail sale until November. It will be a wonderful exploration into the distinct characteristics of premier Napa Valley terroir sites.
The Neal family has been growing grapes in Napa Valley for nearly four decades. Mark’s father, Jack Neal, founded a vineyard management company, Jack Neal & Sons, in 1968 in Rutherford. It started as a classic, small family run company with Jack’s wife and three children farming a few hundred acres of Napa Valley vineyards. After the passing of father Jack in 1994, son Mark, assumed the titular role and oversaw the company’s growth to its present level of farming over 1,900 acres of prime Napa Valley vineyards. Today, Jack Neal & Sons manages vineyards for some of Napa’s most prestigious and renowned wineries.
Inspired by his father’s legacy and all those years working the dirt, Mark built Neal Family Vineyards winery in 2001 on Howell Mountain. His mission was to produce vineyard designated wines under the family label from the fruit of the prized vineyard sites farmed by the Neal family for so many years.
Gove Celio joined Neal Family Vineyards after working closely for over a decade with consulting winemaker, Merry Edwards, at Liparita Vineyard & Cellars on Howell Mountain. As Liparita’s production grew, he became their winemaker and soon started sourcing fruit from Jack Neal & Sons. In 2002, Gove became the full time winemaker for Neal Family and now also plays a key role in ensuring the incredibly high standards Mark and his father Jack set are maintained throughout all the vineyard properties managed by Jack Neal & Sons.
The cost of the flight will be $55 and will include the following wines:
2003 Neal Howell Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
(Retail $82)
2003 Neal Fifteen-Forty Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
(Retail $82)
2003 Neal Chafen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
(Retail $82)
2003 Neal One Lane Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
(Retail $82)
2003 Neal Wykoff Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
(Retail $82)
2003 Neal Second Chance Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
(Retail $82)
We will be taking orders the night of the event for a 6 pack of these wines. ($TBD)
Hope to see you all there!, Debbie, Peter, Bo and the entire FPWM team | | | TN posted on Cellartracker"
